War and the Marine Corps: A message from Sergeant C

Read Time:5 Minute, 33 Second

With all the current verbal and physical threats of violence against members of Congress who voted for the Health Reform bill, and Teabaggers carrying signs that say: We’re unarmed, this time. and the talk of an open revolt against the democratically elected President of the United States, it is comforting to read an article written by a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps…

An article I wish I would never have to write – To those calling for a civil war, this Marine wants you to stop, and think…

By Sgt. C USMC

It’s been said that the military is always preparing for war. That is true. We prepare for combat every day. We ran 5 miles today to the rifle range and shot nearly 200 rounds a piece at targets and then ran back. However, we also pray for peace. I would love one day to be completely unnecessary. But alas, I am a realist, and I know that day will never come.

The headlines of the last week have reminded me more of glimpsing at the S2 Daily Briefing Sheets while in theater or the Al-Jazeera than the NY Times or the Washington Post. Think about that for a moment, let it sink in.

Before I get into the main premise of this article – I need to make two statements here.

First and foremost , when it comes to the back and forth of who did what to whom and why – I don’t give a @!$%#. It doesn’t change the action. In life we’re judged by our actions, nothing more, nothing less. One of the greatest things of the military is when it comes to an enemy, the politics behind the situation – don’t matter in accomplishing that mission. For the military , life is simple in that regard.

Secondly, Regardless of your political ideology, you’ve earned the right as US Citizens to say your piece – no matter how wrong it may be. That is your right, and I will give my life to protect it.

But this government of ours is a democracy. We vote for our representatives, and they vote in our interests. Sometimes, the votes don’t go our way. That’s life, better luck next time. Exhaust your legislative options, and then focus on gaining the required votes and/or seats to achieve your desired legislative vote next election time. That’s the way things work.

But the SECOND you start committing acts of violence and vandalism, then you’ve usurped that Constitution. You in a way have assaulted it. And then you and I (I being every servicemember who has sworn to defend said Constitution) will have a MAJOR PROBLEM.

For those of you calling for a civil war, I implore you to stop and think about what you’re saying. Look around your neighborhood and your city. Now imagine using that terrain to survive. Imagine dodging semi-automatic rifle fire as you scramble from cover to cover, dragging your wounded child behind you. Imagine the deafening report of a mortar as it strikes the ground a 150 feet in front of you, the overpressure enough to shatter your teeth and perforate an ear drum. Try and envision a Stryker rolling through neighbor’s front lawn or a F/A-18 making lazy loops over your head in Close Air Support for the troops in the distance.

Now with that vision in mind, stop by your local Marine Corps base, being they will be the first military units you’d face in an all out ‘civil war’ . Look at them for a moment, examine their ‘work environment’ . They’re running the track, they’re climbing ropes, they’re grappelling with each other in mock hand-to-hand combat, and shooting targets while moving in raid lines on a daily basis. Nearly everyone on that base, down to our ‘secretaries’ has a combat award of one type or another, they’ve faced some of the most stressful situations on Earth where succumbing to the stress can get you killed, and they flourished.

Now ask yourselves and be honest – when is the last time you’ve run anything other than late to work, climbed anything other than a flight of stairs, grappelled with anything other than a paper jam, and shot off anything other than your mouth? When’s the last time you were in any situation more stressful than a traffic jam?

Now I’m not blaming you for your career choice, not in the least. I can’t think of a single job that’s not useful in some way or another. I just want you to simply compare and contrast your work environment with ours and ask yourselves “Who is better suited to win this battle ?” We both know the answer here, and if you doubt that answer, look at the results from Fallujah in 2004. Over 1200 of them ‘lost’ and we ‘lost only 28. That’s a ‘win-ratio’ of almost 60-1, and they’ve been fighting their whole lives.

Put this in another scenario. You and your officemates think your local pro football team sucks , so you put together your own team of the best your company has and challenge them to a game. Even if your team might be good, they’re professionals. This is their job. Your job is to answer phones and type on a keyboard. In short, they’ve forgotten more than you will ever know about football. The result, will be a slaughter for you, and a practice for them. But at least you’ll get a chance to sit at home, ice your wounds and say ‘whew I never should’ve done that!’

Not so with combat. The results of combat are far…FAR..more permanent. There are no second chances, no time for regrets, and no do-overs. This is not Call of Duty.

Now I ‘d like to disperse a myth here – many of you think that US military would not fight civilians. I can’t speak for all, but in my case – the moment you declare civil war, you’re no longer civilians. The moment you attack the constitution, you’re now enemies of that constitution. And I swore to defend and support and if necessary give my life for that Constitution and utilize every tool, technique, and weapon at my disposal to do so. And trust me, I’m not alone.

I hope some of you heed my words and cool the rhetoric and focus on achieving your goals diplomatically instead of physically. It would never want to receive a frag order to Maryland, or North Dakota, or Texas, but it is an order I will follow no matter how much it pains me to do so.

This does have a very valid and important point. But it is writtn like are elections have not become corrupt and our Government is upholding our constitution and bill of rights, which it is not. If you will honestly fight to uphold the Constitution, then you will side with the people not our corrupt Congress and Government officials. (Which were bought & paid for by the Corporations in oder to hold those positions.) “In the eyes of anyone who has read history, disobedience is man original vitue. It is only through disobedience and rebellion that pogess has been made. If you act boldly and righteously, unseen forces will come to you aid.” There are far more powerful forces making this shift in our nation and our world than the humans that dwell on it.

I was a USMC infantry squad leader in 2/24 in Iraq 04/05. I’ve heard Liberals flatly tell me that they wanted a military coup against Bush, that all registered Republicans should be killed, and that they longed for a Che style violent overthrow of the govt.

Everytime I tried to get them to change their minds, or to get them to comprehend that a civil war in America would be really counterproductive, I was met with bigotry and hatred by my countrymen.

One of them even told me that he looks forward to the day that his side kills all of us, and he assured me that I would be “killed last”.

Also, I’d like to report that I’ve been called a “Teabagger” for being against mass murder. So there’s that.

Anyway, I came here from the moderately liberal Democratic Underground. They were very against Sgt. C.

Hey Michael John Scott, BlackSunshine84 did not even mention race or his political party of choice. So you made yourself a leftist raciest. Why is it democrats and republicans can’t pull their collective heads out? You could have researched the Constitution, rules and regulations. You could have posted it to show he is wrong or right. But no you had to show that you just follow whatever the media tells you and spew aspersions like a lemming.

If people wanted real change they would never vote for a democrat or republican again. They are the same and it has been a scam for so long we can hardly see it. Some of us know you can’t have a democracy with a two party system, and that democracy is a scam too. 51% can take the rights away from 49%. Hello? That is why we became a republic, 99% could not take the rights away from 1%. Why would any American want that? We live in a dictatorship right now and have for 100 years. Sure the faces change but the game stays the same. They tell us what we can eat, drink, smoke, and even how we can live. In cooperation with corporations our government has for all intent and purpose become a dictatorship. America, Land of the free? Ya I wish.

If we can’t have peace with one another, how can we with the world?

So what are you waiting for, USMC Sergeant Christopher Calbat? There is a usurper in the White House and I’ve seen very few in the military who are willing to stand up and defend our Constitution.

0bama is not an [article 2 Section 1] natural born United States citizen and therefore, he is ineligible to be POTUS. He a usurper.

A natural born United States citizen is born on U.S. soil to parents who are United States citizens…both parents.

This has nothing to the 14th Amendment. It has nothing to do with who the people voted for. The official syllabus written by the US Supreme Court in Minor v. Happersett is binding precedent as to the Constitutional definition of natural born citizenship.

It’s the law, so do your duty, defend our Constitution.

You don’t believe me? Do your own research. Talk to Leo Donofrio or contact another Constitutional attorney and inquire about Minor v. Happersett. Look at the evidence that has been presented that 0bama is using a Connecticut SSN, forged his Selective Service registration, posted a phony COLB and BC all over the internet. If you choose not to, you are serving 0bama, not our Constitution, and it is you who is an enemy of the United States.

You don’t have the slightest idea what you are talking about. This is all Right Wing racist nonsense. Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, a state of the United States. Didn’t you know it was a state? There is no rule, regulation, or constitutional amendment that says both parents have to be American.

Normally I don’t engage idiots like you, but I am in the right frame of mind today so it makes me feel better. Now please go away and take your Right Wing nonsense to a Right Wing conspiracy site. There are lots of them out there all tailor made to you.

Some of you guys I think are misunderstanding the Sgt anger. I mean were not talking about some unfortunates fighting against a tyrannical leader. No were talking about a bunch of fundamentalist greedy fools who have lied, disgraced, and embarrassed this country and its people for years, and years. Yeah they call themselves Teabaggers now but we all know what they really are. Their the ones responsible for deciding to use religion, lies ,scare tactics in order to gain votes for their unrealistic policies. I mean you have one fool talking about socialist Mexicans coming across the boarder to win the election I mean come on really? About that anyway hate to tell you it wasn’t a bunch of Mexicans that elected Obama no it was Americans who wanted the change he was talking about, many like myself who wish he was the Socialist these idiots claim him to be, then maybe we could finally take a realistic approach to economics, maybe get our country back from the corporations. Hate to inform you Mr so called Patriot that 100+ is a shrinking number bud because most Americans are not behind you if you notice the teabags are not even taken seriously by most Americans anymore. The only reason republicans won a few seats was because retired Americans were angry Obama didn’t deliver Nationalized Healthcare, however whether he did or not we understand the alternative to him is a bunch escaped lunatics running around calling everyone socialist, and antichrist. You know always being realistic they are lol. Sometimes I read this stuff ,and I think Ive broken thru to some alternate dimension, or something. Don’t get me wrong if our Republican party would just leave the crap at home and approach the job with the intellect it deserves then I could respect them, even if I disagreed. Its fine if your against something just stick to the facts when you debate it, I mean theirs no need for all the Mexican socialist, Obama Gandhi crap its all silly and takes away any chance of your argument appearing creditable.Im not really a Democrat I did vote for Obama ,and I will vote for him again , while he hasn’t delivered on the things I had hoped he would, I still feel hes an intelligent man, and I trust him to if anything, not be counterproductive. Which is more then I can say about the alternative.

My grandfather didn’t fight in WW2 just to protect idiots like you who hide behind your screens and doctor the truth, to support your campaign to save a failed economic system. I myself did not serve in Iraq so I could come back home ,and continue to accept the corporate ownership of a country I sacrificed so much for. A crime is a crime, and idiots like yourself have been kicking the working man of this nation around for far to long. Thanks to the internet/digital age we now have the ability to look past your lies. Marines are like the rest of the working class were tired of being disrespected, lied to ,and taken for fools by people like the tea baggers, whom somehow think they speak for the commoners, the Grunts. Almost everyone I served with ,around, etc were furious once they realized the lies W had fed us, however we accepted the job so we were willing to finish it. You twist the meaning of a word like Socialism to serve as the fodder for your scare campaigns, all I say is just know Socialism does have a definition, also a fact will always remain a fact sure you can distort it however unless you have a new way of hiding it then the truth is out their. Unfortunately for reasons unknown people like you and the tea fools have decided not to accept it. I truly feel sorrow for Solders, like my Grandfather, father, myself,Sgt. C USMC ,etc who have truly felt the weight of this nation on our shoulders so people like yourselves can degrade and ridicule our president, all because he isn’t the idiot you selected for the job. Mr Obama while not always right has approached the job as an intellectual, not as some fundamentalist embarrassment who serves only to fill the late night comedy shows with an endless supply of entertainment. All I can say is have your fun ,because your arbitrary ramblings serve no other purpose. Also thank you Sgt. C USMC truly.

Truthfuly to Mr. Sgt. C I understand your pain and concern for what you see and read. But now I want to understand what trust I can put in my Military even when we turn on Our Selfs can I trust you for safty or fear you to do harm?. I only say that because of how you word it you can only really help control the mass an not come into war with your Own People. But your right you could do all that damage But you fail the hole mission !. Our Military can not turn on its Own borders there is things in the Constitution for that. Don’t think that some of us don’t know the odds Sgt. We do !.

I don’t think our grandfathers stormed the beaches of Normandy so our children could grow up socialists and be forced to buy manditory healthcare.

Nevermind the fact that the current gang in Washington pretty much defines the term domestic enemies of the constitution.

Yeah, if Nancy Pelosi tells you peasants to do jumping jacks every morning you better do’em if you know what’s good for you!

And when they rig the next election and give 30 million Mexican socialists the right to vote, you just remember that the real enemy are the American Citizens…

But I have a little secret for you… If you think a couple hundred thousand Marines are going to force socialist / communism and Islam down the throats of 100+ million armed americans… We shall see…

Apparently these Marines have forgotten their oath to defend the Constitution against enemies, both foreign AND domestic. Seems to me, that our government has become the enemy, and ANY military member that protects the corporate government has violated that Oath to the Constitution and We the People!

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.” Marcus Tullius Cicero

“… God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty…. And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.” Thomas Jefferson

Reading paragraph #3:

The same document makes it clear that it is “OUR” duty, yours and ours, to overthrow a tyrannical government.

Where, Meko, exactly, does the Constitution cover this?

I hope I will be exonerated from reading this rubbish further.

“Vigilante” Where does the founding documents cover this? what the hell man? We had just overthrown the British’s tyrannical control over us. What do you think the whole thing was for? Gees give me the strength to deal with the naivete of others.
Friend it’s like this:

The Bill of Rights is the name for the first 10 amendments to the Constitution. These amendments describe fundamental rights that the founders of the country believed every citizen (and indeed, every human being) is entitled to.

These rights include such things as trial by jury, free speech, freedom to practice (or not practice) religion, freedom from cruel and unusual punishment, freedom to own and use firearms, freedom from arbitrary searches and property seizures by government.

The Constitution was passed in 1787 and the Bill of Rights was added in 1791. But the Bill of Rights was absolutely required by the founders. Some states refused to ratify the Constitution unless a Bill of Rights was added. Because Americans had just escaped one tyranny, they were very worried that a strong central government might turn tyrannical. The Bill was designed to prevent that from happening.

1. The Bill of Rights is a list of things the government is forbidden to do (for instance, government can’t search your house or possessions without a warrant, force you to give evidence against yourself in a criminal case, or impose a state religion). (surely I don’t have to list all the laws passed in the last decade that are against the Constitution go to opencongress.org)

2. The Bill of Rights did not create or grant any rights. It merely protected rights that all human beings are born with (inalienable) and that all human beings are entitled to by their very nature.

3 Although we call them 10 separate amendments, they were all passed at the same time, en masse. Some states refused to ratify the Constitution unless all 10 amendments were added. This shows the importance of respecting all rights, even when we don’t understand or we disagree with one of them.

4. The 9th and 10th amendments, which few people pay attention to these days, may be the most important of all. Together, they make it clear that 1- the federal government has only those powers that are specifically granted to it in the Constitution and 2- the individual citizens of these United States have many more rights than are specifically listed in the Bill.

The Bill of Rights was passed because Americans, who had just overthrown the tyranny of British rule, were afraid their own newly created central government might eventually become tyrannical.

The entire purpose of the Bill of Rights was to limit government power.

But we all know the government does not care about the Bill of Rights. they have broken all the rules. all of them friend. But why should we care, right?

The U.S. Declaration of Independence states, in plain english, that “when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government”

But if you want to believe that braking a window or two or fighting tyranny is somehow against the founding documents, Fine you are free to do so.

But it is not hard to do a search at the library of congress to read letters and other writing of the founders to help understand the reasons for the implementation of the Bill of Rights. To me, history class was boring as hell, way back when, it was not until later that I did research and got a better understanding. I am not talking about my opinion or an interpretation. I am talking about what it says and why.

Here are some examples of State constitutions, I know most forget that each state had one to fortify the US one.

“New Hampshire’s constitution guarantees its citizens the right to rebellion, in Article 10 of the constitution’s Bill of Rights:
Whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.

The Kentucky constitution also guarantees a right of revolution in Section 1 of the Bill of Rights:
All power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority and instituted for their peace, safety, happiness and the protection of property. For the advancement of these ends, they have at all times an inalienable and indefeasible right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may deem proper.

Similar wording is used in Pennsylvania’s constitution,[29] under Article 1, Section 2 of the Declaration of Rights:
All power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority and instituted for their peace, safety and happiness. For the advancement of these ends they have at all times an inalienable and indefeasible right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may think proper.

Article I, §2 of the Tennessee constitution states: “That government being instituted for the common benefit, the doctrine of non-resistance against arbitrary power and oppression is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.”
North Carolina’s constitution of November 21, 1789 also contains in its Declaration of Rights, “3d. That Government ought to be instituted for the common benefit, protection and security of the people; and that the doctrine of non-resistance against arbitrary power and oppression is absurd, slavish, and destructive to the good and happiness of mankind.”

The post-World War II Grundgesetz, the Fundamental Law of the Federal Republic of Germany contains both entrenched, un-amendable clauses protecting human and natural rights, as well as a clause in its Article 20, recognizing the right of the people to resist tyranny, if all other measures have failed.”

Hitler was elected in a democracy, he did not take over in a military coup. By the time they saw him for who he was, a psychopathic SOB, it was too late. Some did speak up and they were attacked just like our media is doing now. It was an attack on character and bashed in the media. Then came the military as police and then shots in the head. How dare you be against your commanders.

Then we have the loyalists on both sides. They support everything their side does even when they were against it when the other side was in power. So many hypocritical people it’s sickening.

For years we Americans have always said if the people of one stan or another does not like it’s tyrannical government they should overthrow it. I heard this my whole life. I’m an ARMY BRAT. Look what it takes for us to overthrow their governments for them. Look at the lives lost by design. million of them died, 5000 Americans died and 30,000+ wounded so far. And we could have sent 5 guys to take out a dictator or any bastard our government wants to. Just ask any real Marine.

Many Americans are aware and diligent to watch for a hitler type. Should we just sit back and be good little Nazi’s, like the Germans did? Should we wait until it’s too late.

How about this.
“SEC. 5. DETENTION WITHOUT TRIAL OF UNPRIVILEGED ENEMY BELLIGERENTS.
An individual, including a citizen of the United States, determined to be an unprivileged enemy belligerent under section 3(b)(1) in a manner which satisfies Article 5 of the Geneva Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War may be detained without criminal charges and without trial for the duration of hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners in which the individual has engaged, or which the individual has purposely and materially supported, consistent with the law of war and any authorization for the use of military force provided by Congress pertaining to such hostilities……(E) Such other matters as the President considers appropriate.” – Enemy Belligerent Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act

Don’t forget how Vice President Cheney exempted his office from the presidential order that establishes government-wide procedures for safeguarding classified national security information. The Vice President asserts that his office is not an “entity within the executive branch”. In addition to Cheney’s office declaring itself exempt from oversight, President Bush’s office also claimed it has the same status. (do a search 2003 and 2004 I believe.)

also
President Obama Signs Executive Order Establishing Council of Governors
“The order, signed on January 11 2010, further diminishes the sovereignty of the states and builds on a framework for possible martial law. The executive order was completely ignored by the corporate media.”

What if they refuse? The President serves the people and states, and must stand accountable. It is the duty of the Governors, Congress and Supreme Court to check his every act against the Constitution and Bill of Rights, to thwart the Executive Branch from amassing tyrannical powers, and to nullify any bills, executive orders or presidential signings their states do not support. State governments are not extensions of the federal government. Governors do not serve the Executive Branch. This executive order is completely wrong, is exactly what the Constitution was established to prevent, and must not be accepted.

The Constitution and Bill of Rights are roadblocks against tyranny.
The Founding Fathers studied history and the rise and fall of nations. They knew that whenever an abusive King, President or Executive Branch gets too much authority, they practice unrighteous and unlawful dominion, so they created a Constitution to protect people against their government, not to protect government against the people. By controlling Governors, the Executive Branch is seizing unprecedented state control under the disguise of exchanging, “views, information, or advice.”

Both D&R “parties” have passed laws to reinforce the powers of the next one in power. This pretending to somehow be against each other is a farce. They want you and I, or rather left and right’s to be at each other. They will do anything to keep us from getting together against them. They never overturn the tyrannical ways of the previous leader. Sure they bitch and mown but nothing is done or “changed” hmmm

Blind faith is not an issue, we are not talking about a religion here, we are talking about facts. Do you want every aspect of your lives controlled by the rich elite? 1% of the people controlling the masses. Is that a democracy? NO. And to that, screw the democracy, we have been fooled into thinking that is a good thing. It’s not, We were a Republic where 99% could not take the rights away from 1% of the people. They snuck in the democracy so 51% could screw over the other 49%. They knew they could manipulate at least the majority of the people and they have. Why any American would stand for this is a mystery to me. I want to believe, we Americans, are not as stupid and lazy as the rest of the world thinks we are.

Man I have nothing personal against you or anyone here. I stumbled on this post. It would have been nice if the Sarge would have listed facts how a revolt or violence or vandalism is unconstitutional. I see this kind of thing all the time and a bunch or people post “oh this is a good one”, “oh it’s about time”, or “this hit the nail on the head” etc.

Look how the paid media is attacking the Oath Keepers. Like putting the constitution before unconstitutional orders is a bad thing. Well what are the Feds afraid of, do they plan to give unconstitutional orders? If not why worry. Because they know they need the armed forces to enforce their corruption. Well I know many law enforcement and military personnel that pledge to prevent dictatorship in United States. Is this bad? are you for a dictatorship in America? We must restrict the moral turpitude that abounds in our government.

Use them or loose them friends.

1-Free speech – like it or not = free speech zones
2-Bear arms – security of a free State = only if they permit you
3-No soldier quartered – without the consent of the Owner = during Katrina
4-against unreasonable searches – Oath or affirmation = Patriot Act
5-self-incrimination – double jeopardy – due process = Patriot Act
6-speedy and public trial – impartial jury = Patriot Act
7-trial by jury – common law = Patriot Act
8-no Excessive bail, fines, – cruel and unusual punishments = Patriot Act
9-enumeration in the Constitution – fundamental rights beyond the above listed = Patriot Act
10-powers not delegated – reserved to the States.., the people = every day congress

they have all been broken. Should we not infer that we the people need to do something. Something other than casting a vote we don’t even get a receipt for, just a neat sticker.
But hey we trust the government to count the votes, even though we see all the time that they don’t. But that’s OK we should just sit back and let it all happen.

I know you must be thinking it is only Bush/Republicans that steals elections right? well you might have to rethink that. There is more than ballet tampering going on here. All the promises Barry Soetoro aka Barack Obama made while running was crap. He voted for Bush’s Patriot Act and renewed it this year. hello. I checked his limited voting record while he was running so I knew he was lying. But it sounded good and I was in hope he was going to do the right thing. But not so far and getting worse by the day.

So if you think our American rights are somehow “rubbish” or just my concern is, then that’s fine.

Sit back and be a good slave and enjoy it.
I am a Libertarian, The left and right wings are of the same bird of prey.

I’ve scanned but I’m not bothering to read this overly long, unresponsive boilerplate spam. My question addressed your hyperbolic statement that the Constitution mandated that

Your short and truthful answer should have been that the Constitution doesn’t contain such a mandate, and that you were misspoken/in error/lying.

I was in hope that you were not as lazy and foolish as your trite posts indicate.
Had you took the 5 minutes to read the information you would have seen the list of the state constitutions that call for just that. And The U.S. Declaration of Independence states, in plain english, that “when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government”
But I guess the world is right. The left and the right only go for sound bites. Shame. Oh and SPAM is sent in mass, I was writing just to you, you asked I told. But you don’t want to be bothered to learn anything. it’s cool.

Unresponsive. How disappointing. Perhaps Meko’s point is partially proven that there is documented backing in his beliefs that the constitution/bill of rights and declaration of independence were intended to restrict the government which continually is wiping it’s a– with the constitution that they vowed to serve and protect.

Violence really should be a VERY last resort, but Meko’s basic ideas are well founded imeo. The Sgt really should take a moment and read these important documents, we need all the allies with the citizenry we can get. He’s right that we elect them to represent us, we just need them to start representing US again vs representing every political idea and win that are not in our people’s best interest.

So as a fellow tefflehunde (91 (Kuwait)) to 96), I ask you to reconsider and read them again please…

…to everyone reading this!

You “Sgt. C” (if you are in the service at all) said,
“you start committing acts of violence and vandalism, then you’ve usurped that Constitution. You in a way have assaulted it. And then you and I (I being every service member who has sworn to defend said Constitution) will have a MAJOR PROBLEM”

You don’t seem to have any understanding or even have read the Constitution. There is nothing in the documents that restricts the people. The Constitution restricts the government. So you might want to bust out a copy and read it. We have laws for violence and vandalism my friend. If some jackass busts a window it has nothing to do with the Constitution.
The same document makes it clear that it is “OUR” duty, yours and ours, to overthrow a tyrannical government. And you and I both know that our government is corrupt as hell and has been for decades. The Gov. is now telling us, we the people, what we can do, eat, drink, smoke, say, travel, everything. that my friend is the very definition of tyranny.

And then you say again,
“the moment you declare civil war, you’re no longer civilians. The moment you attack the constitution, you’re now enemies of that Constitution. And I swore to defend and support and if necessary give my life for that Constitution and utilize every tool, technique, and weapon at my disposal to do so. And trust me, I’m not alone.”

I must again point out that we the people can’t attack the Constitution. This is a foolish thing for you to infer. When we overthrow the government and put real Americans in, we will not be civilians we will finally be Patriots. And remember what ever tools/weapon you bring to the fight, we will get from your still warm hands.

I am so glad that the majority of service members do not have your delusional perspective of the Constitution. If you think that the police and military will all be on the side of corruption and tyranny, you have another thing coming.

I think the only part you are remembering from your oath is “I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me”
Without knowing the constitution you would obey a hitler in office blindly.

But I do understand your need to kill Americans, it’s what you’ve been training for.
And we will have no compunction is defending ourself. Remember we will know exactly who the enemy is. And you will just murder whole crowds to get one guy like is being done around the world right now. How many brown people have been murdered in iraq? a million or so?
Just to get a few al-CIA-da.

I am not of the LEFT or RIGHT I am of the Constitution/Bill of Rights
Only a traitor like C would think this crap makes sense.
This joker obviously never read the Constitution or the Bill of Rights, oh like most Americans I guess. gees

All right vigilante! That is great isn’t it? I thought many more should read it and I hope they do. Hi Mike!

Thx for posting this Holte. I just found it, thanks to American Patriot!

As an ex-mil ex-pat I have to laugh. This is just another example of posturing. Do you not realise that many civilians are ex-forces(spec ops included) I also laugh at the physical and material examples of force (Generalizing most marines do not exercise their mental skills)
I am not a tea-bagger or liberal, but I would use every ounce of experience to take down a corrupt Gov (Germany had one in the 40’s)
Posturing and shows of power mean nothing (Ask the IRA)
All Marine C has done, is prepare those that are serious for what they are up against. For those with former training this will be your weakness……P

Yeah, cuz old fat bastards on Rascal scooters will have plenty of time to train themselves two decades younger.

A very sobering post. I salute this Marine for his devotion to duty and for his clear thinking. When these teabaggers talk utter nonsense about civil war, or putting political opponents in their crosshairs, it shows how naive, selfish, and UN-American they really are! They don’t want to “take America back”—they want to create a dark new America that is simultaneously socially authoritarian and economically an anarchy. Such a structure cannot and should not stand.

Whew! Powerful article.

I doubt if any of the ‘baggers will read it, but I hope it goes viral. I’ll forward it to some people.

Good luck to them! My son running the EOD school is waiting but he is on the tea baggers side. So is my foolish older brother who is a marine. I do not like what is coming no matter how it turns out!

The Baggers will claim that the military is just a tool of the socialist president and will urge their members to fight them, which I doubt they will. The militant government haters are just looking for an excuse. That might be a good way to get rid of them…….

Wow that is potent! I wish palin and the rest of those fools would read that. I was going to write about her being the first in those FEMA concentration camps bu something else came up so later.

Thanks for posting this.. I had read it before but couldn’t find a link to the entire letter. I will be borrowing from you and linking back.

This is something the tea baggers keep pushing… that the military will not fire on US Citizens…… Have they forgotten the Civil War? If they think the majority of military won’t fight them… they don’t know the military.

Mad Mike, any chance of getting embedded hyperlinks in comments to be a different color from the rest of the text, so they’re more visible?

Holte, excellent post. Consider this as an endorsement from an aged inactive Corporal (USMC 1961 – 1965). There are probably a couple like me that would be lining up behind our brethren like this Jarhead in defending our country and Constitution. As has been said many times I may not always agree with what someone says but I will defend to the death their right to say. Similarly, if they try to use violence to impose their will on me or my country I will give my life to repel them.

Lazersedge, the occasional house troll at my blog says Sgt. C isn’t a real Marine because of the way he uses the word “frag” in the last paragraph. Does he sound like an authentic Marine to you?

That is a good question. It is used improperly, but I was in the Army and those Marines spoke a different language 🙂

Infidel please keep in mind that I haven’t been in the Corps for 45 years and I am sure some of the terminology has changed but I have never heard the term used. Another thing I noticed though is his use of of the term “theater”. In my day that simply was a term used by Marines especially by Noncoms. You would hear that most often hear that form Army battlefield commanders. In my day the only time one used the term “frag” was when you were referring to getting rid of an asshole Sgt. or Lt. in a most expeditious manner, a la fragmentation grenade. One other thing, the tone just does sound like a Jarhead to me. We talk little and do a lot.

1, Regardless if you believe SGT Cs status as a Marine, it is well written, accurate & correct in my opinion. 2, your skepticism over his use of “frag” isn’t necessary, he is referring to what we in the Army call a FRAGO, that is a Fragmentory Order, as in a fragmentary change of an OPORD- an Operation Order. 3, I have 18 years in the Army, I have been Active, Reserve, Mobilized Reserve & AGR (Active Guard-Reserve)

15 years Army here. A lot of us have been saying this. Want proof? Compare and contrast pictures of troops with President Obama and President Bush.

Night and day.

I will not allow this country to be taken. Read the Oath of Enlistment. All enemies, foreign AND domestic.

First Tea Head or fat “survivalist” starts shooting, and he is now an enemy of the Constitution.

What a great letter! I’ve had some idiot calling himself/herself “Peter Piper” over at my place who needs to read this. Thnks violence is a good thing. And my usual troll who keeps saying the protesting events on 3/20/10 in DC didn’t happen. I may have to repost this (with a link here of course).

Very good – thanks for posting that, Holte. He’s right on the money – most of the mouth-shooters don’t have the first clue what they’re talking about.
