BBC: Outspoken Schoolboy Exposes Serbia’s Deep Divisions

Liberal versus conservative attitudes are not exclusively an American issue. 12 year-old Serbian Schoolboy, Rastko Pocesta, has made his views known, and now the world is getting know Rastko. He is a pro-Western, pro-Democratic Serb in a country that is still deeply conservative and nationalistic, if not outright xenophobic.
Rastko has stated, “I don’t care about the death threats and will never step down.”

Nationalists can be fine. It depends on the nationalists.
Regardless. This young man is a beacon of shining light to the youth of today.
It matters not one jot whether he is right or wrong…and I strongly suspect he is right but no matter. A young man being not only brave enough, but erudite enough to explain his point of view in the face of extraordinary animosity.

We (humanity) can be (on an individual basis of course, as in this case) magnificent at times.
That little shaver is a dead ringer for what the Lawyer must’ve looked like as a kid (with darker hair). Most American twelve year olds couldn’t locate their state on a map let alone give a crap about the politics of the country.
Yeah, I can see that, but the similarity stops there. I don’t think I was quite in his league when I was 12.
Commendable, but I wouldn’t be the least bit shocked if he doesn’t make it to 21. Nationalists are crazy mofos.

Remarkable young man, his command of English is outstanding for one so young, considering the nature of the Serbian tongue, Cyrillic writing etc., amazing.
