Is the Story of Jesus more compelling than Yours~?

Read Time:31 Second

Just a thought for this time of the year and all the myths that have guided the human story. Is the story of Jesus, Yeshua ben Joseph, rabbi and healer, more compelling than the story of You~?

It’s the first play I took my sister to…. the story still captures me. Like Arthur, Osiris, Sitting Bull or FDR… the archetypes are compelling and inspiring… but it is ME who demonstrates what they gifted, what they left us.
Happy Holiday … which ever one you’ve observed for Spring. The message the Earth Mother sends is Arise Anew~!

Many thanks to Parsley’s Pics Blog for the inspiration!

As I said in an earlier comment there is plenty of evidence that Jesus existed. Actually, there were probably a number of men named Jesus during those times. There exists at least one archeological record of one Jesus who was the son of Joseph and brother of James. However, none of the tabloids of the day say anything about the miracles. However, what is a miracle is how millions, if not billions, of people were led to believe that he was the son of God and did the things he did. Of course then I think of the number of people in modern day America that elected George W. Bush president TWICE. I guess it isn’t so hard to believe in miracles after all.

Still cracking up from the first time I was given the privilege of hearing the story “of the J man” from the awesome MM. Reading it is not quite as fun folks, but am tickled to tears again! Thanks MM

IMHO, if the resurrection of Jesus is not literal truth, and I have no basis to support that, it is mythical truth. Even though he was killed, his revolutionary teachings lived on and changed the world. Sadly far to many today, who claim to be his followers, have taken up the role of the Pharisees and Sadducees, whom he so stridently opposed.

I’m pretty sure I exist and I’m not an amalgam of 50 other people running around out there. I liked some of the Sermon on the Mount.

Bee, I think I’ve collected so many archetypes as inspiration, that I’m convinced I ‘tap into them’ time to time… all of that bs aside,
that was my point;
we are a sum of our choices and responses = our stories
AND
the stories that touch us personally, specially.

My story is real. That’s the difference.

My thoughts exactly.

I bought the pre-stage play LP in 1970, tremendous rock sounding music, it got sweetened up for the Movie. Saw the Stage play in 1973, Judas was the star.

Holte, there is a wonderful book called “I remember Love” and it’s the story of the ‘swing between worlds’ preborn Jesus, Mary Magdalene and Judas and the deal they make to change the world. It’s a tall tale that can shift you whole awareness. 🙂

Here is my take on the Master of the J:

Jesus was a great guy. He was a good carpenter who came from a good family. He practiced his trade, went to school, had a few dates, and then, like most normal people, got married and had a couple of little J’s. He realized one day that life sucked. Here he was 30 years old and married with children, kind of like poor Al Bundy but with longer hair.

What to do? He was desperate for a change. So one day, while bullshitting with his buddies Peter and Paul he decided he would become a famous prophet! The money wasn’t all that good but there was a lot of travel. He could speak really well and had a certain charm about him that people liked. Secondly, it would get him out of the house.

So he wandered here and there preaching and praying and throwing Jews out of temples and such when one day a whole bunch of other Jews got really mad at him because he was making them look bad. So they blackmailed the silly Romans into crucifying him and on the THIRD DAY he was still very dead. That, my friends, is the end of the story. There is nothing more. No giant rock moved from tombs, no flying up into heaven..none of that mythical shit. Constantine and the senate made all that up so they could make him divine which would make the new religion of Christianity even more palpable. That is all…Oh! Have a Happy Easter and praise the Lord 🙂

🙂 I would agree with you on that Mike. I think that he was your basic prophet that was used for political gain.

Mike I pretty much agree with you too, IMO Jesus was a mortal who like you say was decreed to be divine by Constantine-Council of Niceae was it?

A message is simply a message if it isn’t acted uopn. Of course, what’s clearly worst of all is when the message is twisted unrecognizably (Hitler twisting Nietzsche, Mussolini twisting Machiavelli, etc.). That is when all-hell is decidedly made.
