Lieberman Thanking “God” that Republicans Might Return to Power

Read Time:2 Minute, 5 Second

If there is one person in Congress who I absolutely despise, more than some of the most despicable Republicans even, it would be Jumpin’ Joe Lieberman.  Now he is back on the map with comments and predictions for 2010.  Read this interesting piece by Michael O’Brien from The Hill:

It’s a good thing that voters have moved against the prospect of one-party control of Congress for decades, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said.

Lieberman, an Independent senator who caucuses with Democrats, acknowledged momentum for the GOP and said that independents had become alienated from Democrats, who control both the House and the Senate.

“There were a lot of people, particularly Democrats, who were declaring after the 2008 election that we were beginning a period of Democratic dominance that would go on for decades,” Lieberman said during an interview with the conservative Newsmax magazine. “Now, all of a sudden, the momentum is with the Republicans. And that’s — thank God — that’s the way people have spoken, you know? That’s our democracy.”

The Connecticut senator has stepped on the toes of fellow party members before, having endorsed his Republican colleague, Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), for president in 2008 over Barack Obama, who was a Democratic senator from Illinois at the time.

“If the election were held today, there’s no question that there’d be significant Republican gains in Congress,” Lieberman said.

The shift, Lieberman asserted, was due to independents who “have turned either toward the Republican Party or against Democrats.”

The 2000 Democratic vice presidential candidate pinned the shift on independents’ concerns about the size of the deficits, and whether or not Congress has done enough of the right things to return the economy to health.

Still, Lieberman said that he’s likely to pursue reelection as an Independent — not as a Republican — should he choose to run again in 2012.

“Right now I’d probably be more inclined to run again as an Independent,” he said. “But anything is possible.”

Lieberman also saved words of praise for former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate, with whom he campaigned.

“I do disagree with her on some of the specifics that she has said, but I think anybody who underestimates Sarah Palin as a political force in America does so at some peril, because she is speaking for a lot of people out there,” he said. “I don’t know what her future is, but I’m just saying everybody should listen.”

You can’t blame me, Mike. I voted for LaMont in 2006 (this, though, yes, I also voted for Jody Rell). He (Leiberman) does have a point about independents, though. Most of the polls that I’ve seen have them breaking big for the Republicans. If I were a partisan Democrat (as opposed to being an independent), I would hope and pray all night that Bachman and Palin continue with their shooting from the hip. That, and not much else, could save the Democrats in this upcoming mid-term.

Why he was not booted from the caucus, after campaigning for old man get off my lawn and Bible Spice, is totally above my pay grade. Too bad CT does not have a sore loser law, they could take him out that way. He won’t be re elected in 12 so there is that thought we can all be happy with. This assboil though, I’ll bet you money, instead of waiting to be taken out by the voters, the turd will resign close to 12 so he does not have to lose. Even Connecticut for Liebertoad booted him from their ticket. Which is another thing, sanctimonious little turd using CFL instead of Liebertoad for CT. He is only in it for himself, nothing and no one else. How he was the VP pick with Gore is totally beyond me.

Jumping Joe’s pink dress goes down a lot better with me than his words do. The Democrats should force him to cross the aisle.
