Tea Party Leader Marsha Blackburn says NO to Michele Bachmann’s “GANGSTER GOVERNMENT” BULLSHIT

Read Time:2 Minute, 0 Second

On Thursday, Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) referred to the government as a “gangster government,” telling a group of conservative activists, “We’re on to them. We’re on to this gangster government. And we are not going to let them have their way.” The following day, President Clinton — who has drawn parallels between the Oklahoma City bombing incident in 1995 and the current atmosphere of right-wing, anti-government hatred — took aim at Bachmann’s comments. “They are not gangsters. They were elected. They are not doing anything they were not elected to do.”

Clinton said people involved with “hatriot” groups like the Oath Keepers and the Three Percenters may take the wrong lessons from irresponsible rhetoric. “Ninety-nine percent of them will never do anything they shouldn’t do, but there are people who advocate violence and anticipate violence,” he warned. Fortunately, some of Bachmann’s conservative colleagues are heeding Clinton’s warning. This morning, during an appearance on Meet The Press, Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) — also a strong supporter of the Tea Parties — refused to endorse Bachmann’s “gangster government” rhetoric:

GREGORY: Do those kinds of words, April 19th is coming up, which is the anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing, when an anti-government person who was obviously a sociopath attacked the federal government. When you describe a “gangster government,” do you think that is over the line and inappropriate in our political discourse?

BLACKBURN: It would not have been a choice in words that I made. And what we have to realize is that any time you have large public gatherings, whether it is a group from the left, or a group from the right, you’re going to have lots of individuals with different opinions who show up.

Watch it:

This wasn’t the first time Bachmann has described the government as “gangster.” In June of 2009, Bachmann took to the floor of the House and declared, “We have gangster government when the federal government has set up a new cartel and private businesses now have to go begging with their hand out to their local — hopefully well-politically connected — congressman or their senator so they can buy a peace offering for that local business.” In May of 2009, Bachmann compared Washington, D.C. to “enemy lines” and urged her supporters to become “armed and dangerous” and fight a “revolution” against cap and trade legislation.

So when mimikate says Marsha is against working people, she is right on. Marsha also hates women, children, seniors, veterans, small businesses, and the environment (if you check her votes).

Don’t forget–in the aftermath of Katrina, it was MB who led the charge to repeal Davis Bacon. That’s a federal statute that says the federal government has to pay prevailing wages for any projects over $10K. Bush repealed it–Haliburton and others hired cheap labor, and the public went ballistic. (Haliburton made a lot of money though). Anyway, Bush finally repealed the repeal after a couple of months.
Marsha also voted for CAFTA (passed by a handful of votes) which sent many of the manufacturing jobs in the district to Central America–Selmer Apparel for instance. But, at a recent listening session, she said the reason for jobs going overseas was because of the unions. Then at another stop, a man said we have to throw CAFTA out. MB said, “We have to get back on the right track in this country”. The bimbo never let on that she voted for CAFTA!

Oh, and check this out. I found it today when I googled her name. I think it must be an anti-Marsha PAC. http://www.stopmarsha.org. It loads kinda slow though. But, very interesting.

Oh Leslie–you ain’t read nuttin’ yet. Marsha was given a 12% rating by the NAACP on her votes on civil and human rights issues. (i.e. Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, extending unemployment benefits, funding veteran’s benefits, the stimulus, the healthcare reform bill—there were about 25 different issues). That was the lowest rating they gave anybody in Congress. Also, read in the paper that in her seven years in office, she has never requested one red cent for projects in her district! And the Tennessee Teacher’s Association just said about her–“She is not a friendly incumbent and we will not be recommending her”. No wonder her constituents think she is worthless. But sometimes her hair looks pretty.

Yikes – I screwed up and the following printed out up above. Anyway,

Rudy and Madam C: Thanks for that info. I had done a little research on her in response to a comment from one of her fans who was gushing about all the good things MB had done for agriculture. Not. Don’t these bozos ever fact check anything? Anyway, I’m in Nashville and will keep all this in mind.

Waste of the taxpayer’s money, and of her contributors’ money. The FEC is after her butt again, this time for buying $1400 worth of symphony tickets and charging them to her campaign. In the past it’s been about paying her children $250,000 to consult in her campaign in a year when she did not even have an opponent, and for failing to discose thousands of dollars of contributions. She’s on CREW’s list of the most corrupt members of Congress. Check it out.

Marsha Blackburn is a waste of the taxpayers money. She has accomplished nothing in her almost 7 years. She has not written one piece of legislation that has passed, and of the hundreds she has co-sponsored, only about 15 have passed. She writes legislation to placate the nutty base, such as the “birther” bill and along with Paul Ryan of WI, a bill to privatize social security and replace Medicare with vouchers. We in the 7th District of Tennessee need your help to get rid of her. Donate to her opponent today, Dr. Greg Rabidoux– http://www.rabidoux4congress.com. It will be the best money you ever spent and a small price to pay to get rid of pond scum.

Bachmann is an irresponsible whack job who could incite much more than she realizes… and she’ll reap the malestrom of it.

Once again a false equivalency is thrown into the mix… Yes we have radicals on the left wing… but they rarely if ever attack people or kill them… That is reserved for right wing extremists… So for her to even mention it in the same vein as Bachmann’s comments is ridiculous at best. But that is the way it is always done… for everyone on the right there is supposed to be a member on the left that is just as bad. What a crock.

Blackman is just as dangerous as Bachmann and Palin, she just uses the sugary sweet southern accent to mask hers.

Four Dinners–you are exactly right. When we refer to Marsha Blackburn, she is not “right wing”. Both she and Bachmann are extremists, over the edge, queens of the Tea Party which is to the far right extreme of the Republican Party. Both of these women need to be careful who they align themselves with since most Republicans and Democrats in this country are more in the middle. I can say that since I once considered myself “right wing”. It was people like George Bush and Marsha Blackburn who drove me away. Like most people in this country, I just want good, honest, effective, and yes, moderate government that works for ALL the people.
Check out this site I just found: http://www.stopmarsha.org. You can make your contribution there.

I think I’m finally establishing that ‘your’ right wing is very different from ‘our’ right wing.

This is a good thing. If our ‘right wing’ were remotely like ‘yours’ I’d be a raving marxist by now!

Blackburn is worse than hideous – I can’t stand her. And I think this non-endorsement was about as limp as you can get. So, yes, she’s sneaky as hell.

I know you want to get rid of Bachmann, but did you know Marsha Blackburn is the 7th most conservative member in a 435 member body? She is far more conservative than Bachmann, though maybe a little sneakier. Sometimes she knows when to shut-up, but she always votes against working people.
