Striptease Scandal for Muslim Miss USA

Miss USA pageant winner Rima Fakih dodges hoopla over a photo showing her at a ladies’ only striptease dance lesson- .
This is a mere fly on the turd in the Right Winger’s punchbowl, as Rima is also the first Muslim American to win the contest. Naturally the claim made by the right is that she was unfairly promoted to the win by a liberal bias that panders to the Muslim community. If the costumes weren’t too skimpy to hide an explosive device, no doubt they would have pressed for a full strip search. Debbie Schlussel went as far as to call Rima a sharmuta, which is a Muslim term for whore: (caption under photo) “Arabic for Sleazebag: This is what a Sharmuta looks like”.
It’s true that she placed well below runner-up Morgan Elizabeth Woolard in both the evening gown and swimsuit portions of the contest. But since these scores are only used for elimination and are not cumulative (unlike Olympic scores) that is hardly an issue. What truly must rankle the Right is that the runner up was from Oklahoma, the only “all red” state. Plus her opinion on the immigration issue (she is for the Arizona law) is the same as theirs. No doubt they figured she was wearing USA flag pasties under her bra.
Such contests are often reviled by people on both sides who allege that it is only about beauty and glamour. So what is the problem when a contestant’s response to the question portion of the contest wins or loses them the competition? Then it can’t all be about beauty, right? If the judges don’t like your answer, just like in American Idol they’ll vote you down.
It must have been liberal bias that cost Miss Oklahoma the crown, cries Faux News and other conservative pundits.
True the judges are a diverse lot, not a bunch of straight, white, males:
Carmelo Anthony, Basketball player for Denver Nuggets, (black, Puerto Rican heritage); Tara Conner, model and former Miss USA; Paula Deen, chef and Emmy winner (also a conservative!); Oscar Nunez, Cuban American actor and comedian; Phil Ruffin, bajillionare friend of Donald Trump and casino owner, Suze Yalof-Schwartz (fashion editor of Glamour magazine), Melania Trump (the Donald’s wife) and fabulous ice skater Johnny Weir.
Besides, in the Miss America contest held in February, the conservatives had a chance to help choose a winner, as one of the judges for that contest was Rush Limbaugh.

I think the bug up their collective asses is actually that 1) she is Muslim 2) She isn’t an anti-immigration blonde from a red state. The pole dancing thing is them looking for shit to stir, and that is all.
I think Truth has it- they should also be able to put a condom on a banana without using their hands.
They should have added pole dancing to the talent competition years ago.
Maybe some of them should get into the pole dancing exercises. It does a good job of toning every single muscle, and then some in case none of you have tried it. She did this for some radio contest and won it.
Why on Earth are they all worked up about this?! It’s a beauty pageant, for crying out loud, not an election for political office.
If Fakih does stuff like beauty pageants and strip-teases, she’s obviously not the kind of religious fanatic we need to be worrying about.
The right wing has an amazing ability to read political agendas into everything.
