Me and LT-A Victimization of American Women

Read Time:4 Minute, 13 Second

My youngest daughter and I had lunch this afternoon at a nice place in San Francisco. Approaching the restaurant, we were briefly slowed by a smiling woman asking me if I cared to buy a rose for my lovely lady.
I grimaced and shook my head, my daughter appeared somewhat less distressed but nevertheless didn’t appreciate the woman misunderstanding the relationship.

I said “Ew, she thought I was the kinda dirtbag goes out with young women”.
My daughter replied “How do you think I feel ? She thought the best I could do was an old guy!”

We both laughed but later as we sat waiting for our food I thought of Lawrence Taylor, known to football aficionados as LT-famed for NFL heroism and equally heroic drug exploits-recently arrested for paid sex with a 15 year old runaway.

Here’s a guy paying for sex with a little girl with a bruised up face who’s less than a third his age. What kind of sick bastard is he? Who would do that? I know I wouldn’t. My cousin and I trashed LT just yesterday. Fifteen years old. Beat up by a scumbag pimp. Used by an NFL hero for 300.00. What a sick bastard.

Thing is, whenever I’m with my cousins or old neighborhood friends we are checking out every female who passes by who isn’t a family member. She can be fifteen, she can be sixty. We all have something to say. We can be discussing an upcoming baptismal or the playoffs or someone needing surgery-soon as a female is spotted the subject at hand drops till she’s out of view. Like ” I really think the doctor would know the amount of anesthesia to use…dang! Oh man, she is SO cute! look at that ass….Dude she’s gotta be sixty…oh tell me you wouldn’t…well yeah”. It’s not loud and it’s not said to her and in most cases its the same if we were watching TV-but we do it. Maybe it’s cultural cause when I’ve had training classes with Anglos if a woman passes my head will turn and my body will corkscrew to follow her and when she finally goes out the door and I turn back they haven’t even noticed. Always happens. But I know they sure look at women in clubs so maybe they just take business more seriously than Indians. Nothing like generalizing huh?

But when I’m back home in LA memorial day, sitting on the lawn with Ron and Dennis and Vince and Petes and Beto and Felipe, sitting and talking and laughing-if that 15 year old girl passed by I would check her out, we would check her out. “Dang she’s fine…..She’s young enough to be your grandaughter you old bastard…… You’d have a heart attack…..yeah but look at her butt….you oughta be ashamed of yourself…you’re looking too…well hell yeah I ain’t dead”.

So I’d look. I’ve never gone to prostitutes. Partly from knowing it’s wrong, partly cause it would be demeaning. So I’d never be in that situation that Lawrence Taylor chose to put himself in. But if I was driving cross-country maybe, and checked into a hotel. There’s a knock on the door and it’s this kid. Bruised up, fifteen. Used and abused by men her whole life. Never had a chance, never gonna have a chance.

I’d feel sorry for her, the Dad would come out. Wouldn’t it? I’d tell her there’s shelters where she could go to get help. Give her twenty or thirty dollars, take her down to the lobby and call for help, if she’d let me. Wouldn’t I? I sure as hell wouldn’t take her up on an offer of sex. Right? I mean, I’m not an asshole. Yeah I look and all but I wouldn’t do THAT. Right?

Understand, I’m not trying to defend what LT did. Far from it. I’m disgusted, and feel pain for the young lady. I’m not saying there but for the Grace of God- not EVEN. I guess what I’m trying to say is, we treat women as second class citizens. Always. All cultures. Some worse than others, but we all do it. We don’t force women to wear burquas and acid-throwing isn’t endemic here-but we look down on women and use them. We cast them aside for younger versions. This is no news flash. Nothing profound here. Bee or Gwen or Jess or Mother Hen aren’t gonna read this and say “You know, he’s right! It never occurred to me!”.

There’s no real point to this. No lightning bolt outta the sky. I’m not offering any insight. I’m just trippin’ I guess. Even us men who may think of ourselves as the good guys, maybe we’re really not as good as we think. Maybe at some point any one of us might have been in a situation where we would use a woman, rather than help a person.

The thought really makes me feel like shit.

I missed this one Oso, when it first posted. A powerful piece. Kudo’s.

I don’t know if it’s a genetic thing or something Oso, but I look at a lady much under 35 anymore and they look like children to me. The thought of sex with children makes me feel icky.

Now a more mature chick who takes care of herself and is turned on by 47 year old dudes with thinning hair and moderately over weight, yeah baby! Fortunately I married a lady like that. Or at least pretends to be like that. I think a lady being a good sport is the most important quality a guy can ask.

Thank you fourdinners. As you are lucky to have Carol, so Jacqui is lucky to have you!

If anyone made that mistake between me and my daughter, Jacqui would share a very violent understanding with them – I hate to think where the rose would go…

Mike,Krell,
Thank you.

Oso, your inner soul searching is proof of a conscience!

Empathy for humanity and the ability to reason beyond the urges from the lizard brain. That is basic human decency…a trait that a large part of the population cannot comprehend,my friend.

Women are biologically programmed to be sexually attractive to the opposite sex by the time they are fertile. For some, this is as young as 8. I’ve seen girls with a bigger rack than mine in 6th grade! Men are programmed to notice. There is no shame in seeing beauty, feeling attraction, appreciating the aesthetics, or even just thinking “I’d tap that!” Acting on one’s libidinous thoughts is another matter.

As a species we have been able, in most cases, to rise above our biology. Despite our urge to pull out a bazooka and shoot the dumbass in the carpool lane who won’t yield, we don’t. Despite the desire to throw down with a twelve year old with an adult’s looks- we don’t.

It is a sign of civilization to treat the more vulnerable of its members as equally worthy of respect and dignity as the most powerful. Any other type of behavior is little better than savage atavism- and the troglodytes that prey upon the weak should be exiled from polite society.

And Oso, the very fact you have the internal dialogue in the first place is analogous to a sane person wondering if they are crazy. An insane person wouldn’t question his sanity,- just as a pervert wouldn’t question his morality.

Oso, the fact that you had that internal dialogue and posted it here shows that you are, at heart, a good and decent man.

I have no problem with women being prostitutes, and let me tell you why: This is a hard fucking world for a woman, even here in lovely old America, home of the free and all that happy horseshit. You gotta have some money to survive, and if that’s the only way a woman can find to get it, then harsh reality is harsh reality. Fact is, though, if a young girl doesn’t have at least one thing going in her favor from the moment she’s born, she’s not going to make it to the house in the ‘burbs with a man who doesn’t beat her and might even treat her like a human being, 2 1/2 kids and a dog in the backyard. That something going for her might be a parent who pulls their head out of their ass long enough to say “hey, I gotta raise this kid to be better than me.” It might be one teacher or counselor at a school who manages to say the same thing. Those girls who end up in the sex trade – most never had that. They don’t know their worth, their true worth, because no one bothered to tell them when they were young enough for it to take root.

That said, what I do have a problem with is a society that largely doesn’t even bother to have that internal dialogue you had, and never even think about it. That’s what I have a problem with – because if more men, and women, had that internal conversation, women in general might be a little better off.

And LT needs to be castrated and kicked out forever from playing ball.

Ah Oso, guys are not the only ones that look. People watching is a fascinating thing. Women can be just as bad, when we are together, with the men watching and doing the commenting.

Had he not done this before though, not with someone as young but he did it before I am sure. I think in reading some of the other stories about him, this is not his first run in with this type of thing. As far as feeling like shit, the fact that you are asking the question would I, tells me you would not in my gut. My guess, and this is only from seeing words on a keyboard, you would probably think, what if this was one of my daughters and would work from there.

That’s my gut feeling too, that I would treat her with the respect I would want my girls treated with. Thanks for writing that. My guilt is from contributing, I guess. In the sense of looking in the way guys always do.

I think LT has done it before, he’s been out of control for years.
