Palin Promotes Drilling During Oil Spill Catastrophe but Obama isn’t Saying NO!

Read Time:2 Minute, 6 Second

As the oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico grows larger by the hour, former Half-Term Alaska Governor Sarah the Palin continues to stick to her favorite mantra of “drill, baby, drill.” Surprisingly the president also continues to talk about drilling, killing whales, opposing strict gun control, advocating open praying and etc. so I am beginning to wonder how many miles actually separate The Palin from The President.  Sadly I never thought there would be a day in my life when I would make such a comparison, but that is a discussion for another time.  Here is the full Raw Story :

In a 30-minute speech to a Republican crowd in Kansas City Saturday, the onetime Republican vice presidential nominee dubbed the gulf spill “very tragic” but added: “I want our country to be able to trust the oil industry.”

Writing in the Kansas City Star, reporter Steve Kraske summed up her remarks as, “She said the U.S. must wean itself from foreign oil in order to be truly free.”

“We’ve got to tap domestically because energy security will be the key to our prosperity,” Palin remarked.

Palin spoke as BP and military officials sought to get a handle on a leaking oil rig site in the Gulf of Mexico, which is purportedly leaking as many as 5,000 barrels of oil a day. The leak began after an explosion on an offshore rig sent the rig to the bottom of the sea and unsheathed a tube that was supposed to be carrying oil to the surface.

Kraske noted that Palin’s speech was also rich with God and “gottas.”

There were lots of “we gottas,” religious references, praise for the troops and even a trademark Palin growl or two as she outlined a conservative vision for the country that adheres, in her view, far more closely to the Constitution.

“We believe that God shed his grace on thee,” she said. “We still believe that America is exceptional.”

In response to a question from local radio talk show host Chris Stigall about her political plans, Palin punted. Although she has hinted in recent months that she is considering a 2012 run for the White House, Palin on Saturday joked that she might run next for a PTA position when her son, Trig, starts school.

Palin spoke to a group called “Preserving American Liberty.” She wouldn’t disclose how much — or if — she was paid for her speech. The former governor has been earning as much as $100,000 for each appearance.

I have to admit it. I initially applauded the President’s compromise on the drilling issue. But, yes, this current catastrophe absolutely does give me pause. At least from what I can gather, this rig was in water that was far, FAR, too deep. If you don’t have the means to stop a leak, you shouldn’t be allowed to drill at that location. Simple. Nuclear, now that’s a different story. If the French can do it, WE CAN DO IT!

I made a comment the other day, that Halliburton had something to do with the oil rig cement process. Here is a statement from them after they did some analysis. Anything these liars say, take with the customary grand assault or grain of salt, whichever you prefer.

Isn’t grandma turkey lover’s time running out on that fifteen minutes yet? I wish she would just disappear into the ether, so we never have to hear her harpy voice again. I’m like you guys, I canvassed out of state even for him. Hell I was in hospital part of the time, talking him up to people there and this oil business talk pisses me off. While I will probably vote for him next time, I don’t think I will be using up any time to help get him back in. Too many things being put off till the timing is right. ENDA, DOMA, DADT, health care was a big reason I supported him. What did we get, oh it will happen in 4 yrs but not what you think will happen.

We ‘gotta’ boycott this TTB. She should be excused from public life with a straightjacket. Perhaps someone might invite her on a slow boat ride through the oil rich Gulf of Mexico. Like the oil rich shores of Alaska where clean up has never been accomplished.

btw, I completely DITTO MH on Obama. And tears slid down my cheeks when I did.

Another city, another (the same) speech, another $100,000.

I voted for him, defend him when racists attacks are made and people call him a socialist, but this kind of BS is indefensible. After he advocated offshore drilling, nuclear power station building, days of prayer- just this latest round of outrages has me thinking he is merely the lesser of two evils.
