The Ghetto Economist discusses fiscal policy with a Teabagger

Read Time:2 Minute, 30 Second

Recreated conversation from yesterday with a teabagger coworker
.

TB: You know during the twenties, under Harding or Coolidge, not sure who was president, we had the lowest taxes ever. But the economy grew and grew. Because everybody made money and they didn’t have to hand it over to the government but instead invested it in business and created jobs.

That must be what Beck talked about last night. Did he also mention it caused a bubble and we went into the Great Depression?

TB: We had a Depression cause the govt got involved. Roosevelt hiked taxes and we went into a Depression.

Actually the crash and onset of the Depression was on Hoover’s watch. Roosevelt hiked taxes up to like 70% for top marginal rates and the economy grew. Problem was he didn’t spend enough, he was basically a fiscal conservative.

TB: What got us out of the war wasn’t the govt, it was the war. World War Two.

You just reinforced my point. What do you think the war was ? Govt spending.Massive govt spending. Had Roosevelt spent more we’d have come out of the Depression quicker.

TB:Govt never made anything better. They need to fire all the govt employees. They don’t produce anything. Like the DMV. Fire all of them.

Put more people out of work?

TB: Let them find jobs like everybody else.

They’ve already got jobs. Put more people out of work with 11% unemployment, they aren’t paying taxes anymore and now they’re collecting unemployment and food stamps. Maybe COBRA. Now you just made the deficit worse. Less tax revenue more transfer outflow. You increase the deficit.

TB:The govt just can’t keep spending. All you liberals can think about is the govt, please give us money so we don’t have to work. The banks can just loan the money out so people can start businesses.

Where do you think the banks are getting their money right now? Much of it’s from the govt. And they aren’t lending it out because there’s no demand coming from the private sector. The reason for that is the private sector is too deeply in debt to take on any more debt. Wages have been stagnant for 30 years and we’ve maintained consumption by taking on more and more debt. The only way to spur demand is through govt fiscal policy, spending money to create demand and keep spending until the private sector pays down its debt and the economy grows again. Tax revenues will go up and unemployment and food stamps will go down. The deficit will shrink. The only way to bring down the high govt debt to GDP ratio is to grow the economy. Like we did after World War Two. Govt fiscal policy.Spend money.

TB: You really drank the koolaid, man. You should listen to Glen Beck. Maybe you’d learn something.

THe Ghetto Economists coworkers listen to him in the same way that Dulce listens to him, which is to say not at all.

“Like trying to reason with an overflowing toilet”….

LOL, now that is one of the truly great lines I’ve read in ages 🙂

The sad thing is that TBs get their opinions from people (FOX mainly) who only spout crap because it’s good for ratings, if telling the truth would get them the biggest share of the available audience, that’s what they would do.

I try to tell them that fact,Holte. That it’s ratings, but they’re true believers-worse than any religious fundamentalist.

I work for myself. You should hear THOSE arguments! LOL Really great post Oso… it does accurately depict “the conversation” … I’ve heard in the hood here too. Drives ya nutz.

Oso, I swear, I wish we could move to another planet and leave the morons and liars behind to run things exactly like they want to. Then they’d get exactly what they deserve and we would not have to suffer from the consequences of their stupidity, greed, and xenophobia.

As you know, logic and facts don’t mean anything to these deluded tea bagging fools Oso. I have a radical racist tea bagger where I work. He’s always putting stupid tea bagger propaganda on bulletin boards and stuff. You can’t argue with him cause he’s a close minded, backward thinking fool who hangs on every word Beck and Rush spew.

I stopped trying to enlighten him and play his game now. I post pictures of President Obama and Tiger Woods all over the place. Especially if theere’s a white woman in the picture with them.

God help this guy if I’m ever able to get a picture of him. There will be photo shops of him hugging Obama all over the place. Bwahahahahaha….

My boss is one too, he and this coworker are old friends. So I struggle to control my temper. But trying to reason with them is like trying to reason with an overflowing toilet. Plus they absolutely worship Beck.

Oso, I think Dulce’s ASS has a higher IQ than that mouth-breathing Beckerhead. Perhaps if he were made to meditate on her butthole, UP CLOSE, he might pick up some of her mad economy skillz and be less of a retard.
