New Walt Disney World Resort – For Pets

Read Time:2 Minute, 20 Second

Vacation time for the family usually means boarding your family pets for the duration, or asking someone you trust to take care of your fur coated family member, but if you are heading to Walt Disney World take your pets with you and let them be spoiled too. The newest resort offers a chance for some of its special guests to live in the lap of luxury, but only if they’re of the four-legged kind. Disney announced yesterday that Best Friends Pet Care Resort is accepting reservations for pet stays beginning Aug. 27, 2010.

Best Friends Pet Care Resort offers cats and dogs the opportunity to stay in a 50,000 square foot facility. It features expansive indoor and outdoor space, including a private dog park. 270 dogs and 30 cats may stay at the facility, which provides both daytime and overnight boarding, and grooming services.

“Best Friends has long been the industry leader for boarding, and this will be our crown jewel. We’ve taken the ‘best of breed’ in every category to create the perfect environment for pets,” said Dennis Dolan, president and CEO of Best Friends Pet Care. “Our goal is to ensure that pets staying with us have a fun, action-packed vacation – just like their families vacationing at Walt Disney World.”

Advance reservations are strongly recommended for the resort. Both Disney resort and off-site guests are welcome to board their pets at the site, and the resort also offers daycare only options for guests who stay off-property.

Rates for Best Friends Pet Care Resort are more expensive than the prices for the Disney theme-park kennels being phased out. What follows are the current, 2010 prices for the Pet Care Resort.

Daycare for pets staying 6 hours or less start at $15 for cats and $16 for dogs. Daycare for pets staying more than 6 hours starts at $18 for cats and $27 for dogs, per pet. Cat boarding starts at $21 per day, per pet, for Disney resort guests ($23 for off-site guests). A la carte items for cats, those optional amenities like treats and playtime, cost between $3 and $8.

Dog boarding ranges from $34 per day for Disney resort guests ($37 for off-site guests) for indoor boarding to $69 a day for a VIP suite ($76). A la carte items for dogs, like bottled water and bedtime stories, cost between $5 and $8, with playgroups costing $15 for 30 minutes.

Prices for “Pocket Pets” are based on size – from small to extra-large – and range in cost from $10 per day for small pets belonging to Disney resort guests ($12 for off-site guests) to $21 ($23) for extra-large pets.

Do they get little mouse ears too? It’s just a more expensive kennel substitute. Florida is on the right track drawing attention to Orlando, as the coastal areas are going to suck very soon.
