Soup Nazi invades Manhattan (again)

The “Soup Nazi” was nowhere in sight at the reopening of his original store Tuesday. And believe it or not, the customers were disappointed. Dozens of customers mobbed the store,now called The Original Soup Man, on W.55th Street, in a line that stretched around the block before the noon opening.
Baseball great Reggie Jackson chopped a zucchini in half with a cleaver in the soup-slinger’s version of a groundbreaking.
Al Yeganeh opened the soup shop in 1984 and closed it six years ago but never gave up the lease to the 100-square-foot storefront.
He was immortalized as the “Soup Nazi” in a classic 1995 “Seinfeld” episode that featured actor Larry Thomas bellowing, “No soup for you” at cowering customers.
Yeganeh banned Jerry Seinfeld from his shop after the episode aired and never warmed to his depiction as the Soup Nazi, even though it boosted business.

Al is not involved with the business in any way, shape or form.
He sold the building to the current owner in April, and has been out of the country, except when he signed the contract, for 6 years.

I’d wait in line for a kiss from Courteney Cox and/or Vanessa Williams. For a small bowl of overpriced soup, though, hm, probably not. No soup for me!
