AP reporters: NEVER say “ground zero” mosque

Read Time:44 Second

The Associated Press has issued guidelines for its reporters and headline writers regarding a certain proposed development near ground zero. Full memo here, or for highlights:

  • “We should continue to avoid the phrase ‘ground zero mosque’ or ‘mosque at ground zero’ on all platforms.” Instead, “say it’s ‘near’ ground zero, or two blocks away.”
  • “We can refer to the project as a mosque, or as a proposed Islamic center that includes a mosque.”
  • “In short headlines, some ways to refer to the project include: ‘mosque 2 blocks from WTC site,’ ‘Muslim (or Islamic) center near WTC site,’ ‘mosque near ground zero,’ and ‘mosque near WTC site.'”

As a reminder to staff, AP is changing its own internal story slugs from “Ground Zero Mosque” to “NYC Mosque.” Bah, says Michelle Malkin, who calls the style memo “a re-tread of a pro-mos

Michele Malkin is a sick piece of shit. How stupid does one have to be, after observing our media crucify Islam for the actions of a few for the past nine years, to then excoriate that same media for political correctness when they finally write something which is accurate?

It needs to be remembered that ‘muslims’ are not terrorists…indeed, many muslims died in the Twin Towers.

However, Islam needs to acknowledge that certain ‘so called’ practicioners of their religion caused ‘Ground Zero’ so a balance needs to be found.

By all means ‘celebrate’ diversity in your huge nation but, perhaps, advise muslims that, if they are prepared to SHOUT OUT LOUD publically against their religions extremists the objections to a mosque nearby may well fade away.

It’s always a two way street and, as yet – and I could be wrong – I haven’t heard much anti-Islamic extremist rhetoric from muslims.

It’s fair to say they (the ordinary muslims) didn’t do anything wrong but ‘wrong’ was done in their name.

Come on muslims. Shout down your extremists and most of this crap will just fade away.

Due to my inherant survival instincts..I will not be holding my breath to hear anything…..

No good will come of all this, the anti-Muslim anti-Mosque rhetoric is growing, once the mob grabs hold of it, beware. Pretty soon 60% of Americans will say Obama is a Muslim.

Ground zero is most sacred to the capitalist minions of Mammon.

We need to celebrate diversity by acknowledging that Ground Zero is a hallowed site for Muslims as well as for Jews and Christians, and it is only right that they should build a mosque there.

Ground Zero is sacred to Islam as being the holy altar on which 3000 najis kafirs were sacrificed as burnt offerings to Allah (aka Moloch) for the greater glory of the Religion of Peace™ .

Three cheers for the AP, even if this does seem like a bit of an afterthought.
