Friday the 13th is International Left-Handers Day – Lucky for them

Read Time:1 Minute, 48 Second

Today is the day that all the lefties all over the world can call their own. Friday the 13th, is International Left-Handers Day it was started by a US group in 1976 and is marked with informal events around the world.

Around 13 per cent of the world’s population is thought to be left handed, although there are wide geographical variations. The proportion is much lower in Asia, which has been linked to forms of cultural discrimination. In India, for example, the left hand is taboo for eating, and some in some Muslim countries the hand used to deal with anything dirty, such as doing cleaning the ass duties. So if a person only has one arm or hand in Islamic countries, hence the term “unclean.”

Eight lefty US Presidents
James A. Garfield; Herbert Hoover; Harry S. Truman; Gerald Ford; Ronald Reagan; George H.W. Bush; Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. That makes almost 20% of US Presidents left-handers, well above the norm. In the 1992 Presidential Election all three candidates were southpaws, Bill Clinton, GHW Bush and Ross Perot. In 2008 both McCain and Obama were also from that exclusive club.

Add Benjamin Franklin, John Kerry, Nelson D. Rockerfeller and Bart Simpson to the list and wrong-handers have had a big impact on American life.

Famous Foreigners who wrote upside down
Julius Caesar , F.W. de Klerk , Benjamin Netanyahu, Tiberius, Napoleon Bonaparte, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Pablo Picasso, Rembrandt, Joan of Arc, Queen Victoria.

For years, left-handedness was not treated as a point of pride, much less a qualification for high office. Remnants of anti-leftiness are everywhere: A right-hand man is indispensable, but who wants a dancing partner with two left feet? The words “adroitness” and “dexterity” derive from the French and Latin words for “right,” while “gauche” and “sinister” derive from the words for “left.” In the New Testament, the souls of sinners who fail to meet with the Savior’s approval are sent to his left — and to eternal damnation. No wonder that, well into the 20th century, children who showed signs of left-handedness when writing were forced to switch hands.

In Heraldry, devices that faced left were “sinister” as opposed to ones facing right, “dexter”.

I’d say the reverse holds true today for the politics at least.

The left way, is the right way. The right way is, the left way.

And I’m just talking out my rear BUT, If facing the savior those who’d be saved would be to your LEFT, and if standing next to the savior, on his right as one the saved he’d be standing to your LEFT. Is there some kind of esoteric meaning to the left?
