Hollywood Babylon
One of my favorite bands of all time, New Jersey’s The Misfits and their tribute to Kenneth Anger: “Hollywood Babylon.”
I used to blast this song from my LP stereo sound system as I combed my hair on a Saturday night, on my my way to a evening of mayhem and horsing around. This band was part of every New York teen’s mandatory rock-a-billy, garage phase (Jerry Lee Lewis, Esquerita, Little Richard, MC5, The Sonics, Dick Dale, Link Wray) and what made them great was that they were then a current music act that seemed to simply exist outside of mainstream culture and radio and played straight ahead rock and roll that was vile, R&B-laden and fuckin’ scary.
-And oh yeah, they were from Lodi, New Jersey.

@Mike- They are mostly associated with the hardcore Punk movement of the late 70s and early eighties, but they in no way typified that sound as they were more 50s influenced (they are named after Marilyn Monroe’s last film) You might like this other song they wrote about Patty Hearst:
