I’ll Miss This

Read Time:50 Second

Some of the best fishing I’ve ever had has been at this place. There’s another spot that rivals this but this is my favorite. The other place is hard and dangerous for me alone. This spot is very easy with levels like these. We’re talking give or take 150 in an afternoon. Of course not every time but it happens. Have to say myself there’s a fair amount of action here and I can’t tell you enough how much fun it is to see these fish come up after a dry fly and you can see that pretty well in this. It just doesn’t get much better! Watch closely.

Mostly rainbows and they don’t get much bigger than this. Next time you go it might be all brookies and you can catch a cutthroat if you’re lucky. The other place you can get the other one which is a brown and when that happens that’s way too cool.

One Fly

From a cornfield in the middle of America to the Colorado Rockies. Does better taking pictures than fishing and golfing. Thinks driving down interesting roads is like sneaking into a real good movie. Would like to think that when Republicans have a nightmare he was in it.

If you throw a fish back does it remember being caught and, if so, for how long?

If they get caught very much yes. Those barbs hurt. Like the stream above will go barbless.

One Fly, thanks for your comments. I’m a beginner fly fisher and could use all help available. Yes, it’s a higher state.

Forget about the knots unless you’re a purist. I don’t use leader or what ever they call it but those chinese finger trap devices with a loop where I tie 6lb trilene yellow regular fishing line to it. Fish can’t tell the difference.

Go for it David and ask away. Any fish is a good one particuarly if you’re not catching any.

I bet you can tell a lot about a person depending on the type of fishing he likes to do. Thrill seekers and risk takers go out to the deep sea and take on marlin and sharks in an exhausting, bloody battle; noodlers squat in a muddy lake insanely sticking their hands in holes where anything could be lurking.

I’ve always thought fly fishing as subtle, yet active, contemplative and precise. Plus trout streams are, to me, the most beautiful of places to fish.

Home run MH. That’s just it is the beauty of it. At times depending you become mesmerized by all of it. It’s just some of the best fun and doesn’t cost a lot. No noodling for me though.

A question…To me, it seems like there is fishing and then there is “Fly Fishing”, almost in a different higher level. Some of the stories that you read and see tend to indicate as such.

Do you think that is the case? Do you think that Fly Fishing is a almost meditative transcendental adventure? I don’t know if those are the right words to use but you probably get the idea…What are your thoughts?
