Muslims, madness, mosques and South Park

Read Time:49 Second

The bear is Mohammed the Holy Mothu’ F*cka…

Pamela Geller, who effectively founded the campaign against the Ground Zero mosque, discusses her reasoning with Talking Points Memo…and South Park has a lot to do with it. Her “most prominent examples” for why she has a problem with the Islamic faith were the death threats leveled at a Danish cartoonist and, later, the South Park creators, for depicting Mohammed, writes Christina Bellantoni. But, Geller insists, she has no problem with “secular” Muslims.

Geller, perhaps best known for bus ads aimed at stopping the “Islamization of America” as well as anti-mosque bus ads, describes herself as a “human rights activist” who helps Muslim women find “safe haven.” She explains that the building that would house the mosque was hit by landing gear on Sept. 11, and is thus sacred. As for all the strip clubs in the area, well, that’s different: “Strip clubs didn’t bring down the towers. It’s faulty logic.”

Good thing Christian nations don’t invade other sovereign nations, leading to the deaths of anywhere between 150k and one million. Whew!

Religion isn’t bad; it’s some people that call themselves “religious” that is bad. There is a strand of people in many cultures, including the white protestant culture that are at a level of development that is pre-modern, and hates modernity and especially is vitriolic towards post-modernity. Those are the ones this world needs less of, whether they call themselves Mormons or Muslims.

I hadn’t realized that the building in question had been hit by a piece of airplane wreckage. So it may not be “on” ground zero, but that sounds pretty close. If I were a New Yorker, someone who’d lost family or friends in the attack, my opinion might be stronger against it.

The strip clubs are tacky, but haven’t they always been there? They are a ubiquitous part of the NYC landscape.

I have no problem with secular Muslims either. I have every problem with their extreme factions. Even obnoxious, deluded, Bible-thumping morons who refuse to vaccinate their kids and want the women subservient to the men don’t stoop to the inhumanity of Sharia adherents.

Of course I am not a fan of any religion. But there is a special place of loathing in my heart for ones that demean women and children.

Damn Mike. I am still waiting for someone to explain to me what make that spot of land in New York sacred. I guess that British Americans need to stay out of Boston, Japanese Americans need to stay out of Honolulu, er, er, European Americans need to leave this country. 3000 people huh? What about the other 11,000+ people that were murdered in 2001 in this country. I guess they don’t count.

You are absolutely right Mike. Appreciating your point of view.
