Pakistan flood chaos – Where are their Muslim brothers?

Read Time:1 Minute, 3 Second

The United Nations is sending out a cry for more international aid to cope with Pakistan’s unprecedented flood, which covers an area about the size of Florida. The US is responding, but other nations, particularly Pakistan’s Muslim friends and big-ally China, must also step up.

The UN says it needs $459 million in immediate assistance for Pakistan. The US upped its contribution to $150 million, from previously committed aid of about $76 million. America is the largest global donor by far, probably for strategic reasons.

Critics in the West and also in Pakistan have wondered why response from Muslim friends and neighboring China has been slow and low. Saudi Arabia, one of Pakistan’s closest Muslim allies, reacted by considerably increasing aid to $80 million from about $20 million.

That should serve as a catalyst for other Muslim nations in the Gulf region, many of which have the wealth to contribute. Kuwait, for instance, has offered only $5 million, same for Oman. Iran is in for $800,000, Qatar for $400,000, and the United Arab Emirates? Officially nothing.

Some Pakistanis, meanwhile, question why a relationship with China that is supposedly “as high as the Himalayas” has produced an offer of only $9 million – not even a small hill.

Osori….I understand old bean. Really I do. My muslim pals are tired of it too but they do tell me they understand why.

They are frightened to say anything vocally against the extremists as their local mullah’s wouldn’t like it and they would be targeted.

I know it sounds like we’re whinging on and on and on and on but who else will?

Speaking for myself I would…and will if needs must…go to Mo Noor’s defence if anyone ever causes him grief.

Equally, I would kick the crap out of him if he ever went extremist in my country.

He won’t incidentally…he far prefers enjoying a ‘discreet’ beer with me.

We can’t shut up unless Islam shuts up.

You reckon it ever will?

Hi fourdinners,

Probably not. The people who feel the need to force their religion on others just don’t seem to understand the concept of “If it’s a good product let them come to you”.

All it does is alienate people, like it does to you. Local Christians here drive me nuts. I tell them I already AM Christian, but they want me to join their sect.

British Prime Minister, Call Me Dave Cameron, reckoned he would ‘flush out’ the Taliban from Pakistan…

Bloody hell! He doesn’t hang about does he?…;-)

I have no info on this, I do know typically us help is like we did in haiti, military focused with a low % humanitarian aid.

Would it be too much to ask that mad mikes move back to a political site like before rather than the anti-muslim site it has become? I got no issue with atheists but the muslim bashing is getting fucking old.

To their credit, most of the MCC sites I researched (as well as some Christian centers) were taking donations for Pakistan. But, once again, that was in the US.
