Giants of The Tulsa Sound: Leon Russell and JJ Cale
I’ve seen Leon Russell play more times than I can count. Unfortunately I have only caught a JJ Cale performance once at the legendary Cain’s Ballroom where Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys played regularly years ago, and laid down the roots of The Tulsa Sound. It’s hard to explain what the Tulsa Sound is, but I know it when I hear it. You hear it a lot in Eric Clapton’s work that is greatly influenced by these two guys, Russell and Cale.
If you can dig this, then you are well on your way to being half way to everywhere.

I love blues. Thanks.
Two of my favorites, good to see them together. I have a CD of JJ with Eric Clapton called “Road to Escondido” several the tracks are the sweetest blues you will hear.
