Some people are often alarmed at the word ‘extreme’.
Extreme right, extreme left and, even, if you’re shaped like me and the only excercise you get is blinking occasionally, extreme sports.
There is one extreme that everyone loves though in the Dinners household.
Ty Pennington’s Extreme Makeover.
It’s on now so I’m off for my weekend fix.
They just built a new home for a family with a little boy who had a heart transplant.
Not only did they build a magnificent new ranch for the family, they paid off all the medical bills.
The wifey isn’t quite as big a fan as me. “I like it but it’s very American” she says enigmatically – I think she means it’s a bit loud as opposed to our versions of DIY S.O.S. – not quite the sedate British way.
Ty Pennington is one of my heroes.
A feel good show with a feel good format and real people being helped when they need it most.
A ‘good old boy’ hugging a black rapper called Xhibit for redesigning his barn and fixing his tractor, a gay designer being hugged by a clearly conservative right winger for helping make a decent home for his family, a British carpenter accidentally injuring himself designing a wooden American flag with ‘wave’ effect and shedding blood onto it being hugged by an ex-American marine who shed blood for his country and now has a great home for his family.
A warm dose of what humanity can be to and for each other does a body no harm at all.
Made for TV? Who cares. Thanks for all the warm glows extreme America. TY FOR PREZ!!!!!!

No worries, sometimes people just don’t know. I knew about it after seeing a house in one of the areas having to be sold because the family couldn’t afford the taxes.
What about somebody peeing in cheerios? What did I miss???
Just me being my fact filled self with things, sometimes they are not what they appear to be. Extreme home makeover causing some people to have to pay more in taxes and a few of the homes over the years being foreclosed on.

AYUP most certainly is true for some of the properties. Here are just a few, I pulled right from the git go. Sorry to burst your bubble, but sometimes all that glitters is not gold, it can be that nasty glitter that you buy in tubes and it isn’t worth diddly squat.

Look out everyone, here comes the turd in the punch bowl about this show. While it’s all fine and good they do these makeover shows, what they don’t tell you is the homeowner is now saddled with way higher property taxes because of the improvements made to them. Yeah, I know a liberal talking about a tax hike like it’s a bad thing, who woulda thinked it. In this case, for many of them it is a huge tax hike. They rebuilt several homes where the homeowners could not afford the doubling or tripling of the taxes, and had to offload the homes. Sorry to pee in everyone’s Cheerios, but it is what it is.

I liked Ty when he was on Trading Spaces better. But I like the Extreme makeover show’s goals- and he is such a spaz and so easy on the eyes that he got the attention and the sponsorships needed to do the show for people. I can’t imagine it anywhere but here.
