US to drag young Black woman to death for jaywalking
Tehran (IRNA) — World outrage continues to mount at the US for sentencing young Marian Quarles to be dragged to death behind a pickup truck for jaywalking on her way to class at the University of North Carolina. President Ahmadinejad has called for UN censure of the US until it ends this barbaric practice.
Her lawyer, Sydney Carton Vll spoke with IRNA yesterday:
SC:The US regularly drags Black suspects to death for capital crimes. The fact that a beautiful young college student will suffer such a savage fate is particularly reprehensible. Marian was merely hurrying to class when the racist White Christian police arrested her. She is now in a cell awaiting her horrible fate.
IRNA:And this is common, this death by dragging? Many Americans dispute this, saying jaywalking is merely punishable by a moderate fine and dragging Black Americans to death is not official policy but rather a hate crime. American sources further state that sentencing of Black people to death by dragging, burning or lynching has been outlawed for many years and that the Iranian media is intentionally misleading people for political purposes.
SC:Fez-Book has a “US don’t drag Marian to death” page with over 160,000 signatures. Would people who believe everything bad they hear about Americans allow themselves to be misled?
Islamic websites calling for worldwide Sharia have displayed pictures of Ms. Quarles showing artist depictions of what dragging would do to her face. Do you insinuate these people who are taking a brief respite from chanting Death to America the Great Satan to focus on this issue are doing it for political purposes?
IRNA: Certainly not. But as journalists we have a duty to represent all viewpoints – both that of the people who get all of their news from the government controlled Iranian media and who never question any information the media provides and who never read books or research the issues, as well as the other side who will certainly burn in Hell for their blasphemy.

PS: I wrote this after reading a post here referring to the “Rumor that Iran has outlawed stoning”. As I’ve written before, the Iranian judiciary put a moratorium on stoning in 2002. There have been a few instances of lower courts sentencing people to be stoned since then and as far as I know all have been overruled by higher courts. There has been draft legislation working its way through parliament since 2008.
I would be the first to agree that stoning is an absolutely horrendous and barbaric practice, the individual equivalent of firing cruise missiles into Baghdad – something which only could be supported by savages and barbarians seething with unthinking hatred.
PPS: Like the belief that the administration has passed meaningful healthcare and financial reform, Marian Quarles and her jaywalking arrest is also a complete fiction.
I don’t understand why this is funny or posted. I looked up the name and any info and nothing is coming up. If this is a prank or joke, laugh by yourself.
Amazing… and great to see some non fiction! Visa ve…
Great stuff per usual darlin. !!!!
Oso, you never cease to amaze me by your ability to shine a light at a different angle to try to get people to think about a subject. Welcome back, friend!
Thank you man!
By the way I knew you would pick up on the “rumor” thing 🙂
Ah man, you know me too well!
“Fez-book” ROFLMAO!
I stared into the abyss today when the Roto Rooter man had to come out.
Krell and the Lawyers debauched rooster-crowing chug-off was to blame.
Don’t mention that incident, I still am dizzy. Good God Almight, I bow before the Lawyer’s drinking talent.
The ability to mix wine, beer, and scotch….then wake up 6 hours later like he is ready to plead a case before the US Supreme Court, crazy man!
F*ck O-Man!!!! You continue to amaze me and I know the point you are trying to make. I also know it could happen here. I know that. I don’t remember the exact words and I am too tired to Google it but was it not Nietzsche’s cautionary tale about the hazards of staring into the abyss?
AYUP, when you stare into the abyss the abyss stares into you, courtesy of Nietzche Beyond Good and Evil. Kind of like, when you point one finger at someone, the others are pointing right back at yourself.
Thanks Jess, I was trying to recall that but couldn’t. Being nearly as old as Mike is tough!
oooh, I am telling on you, that you’re calling him old. I think it is really more, I have one of those minds that collects useless information till it’s useful at some point. I keep telling hubby, watch all this good memory come back to haunt me, when I can’t remember my pin numbers or anything when I get older.
Point well illustrated, Oso.
If this was the punishment it would learn dem people real good now how to behave properly!
Hi Jess, I think you may have got yours for sitting down in traffic for good and noble purposes!
AYUP middle of the street for prop h8 protesting. If I break the law it is always a civil disobedience type thing, never criminal. Not yet anyway.
Oooh this scared me because of a story I recently read, about a young black woman honor student, who had been put out of a police station and was found dead close by said police station. Of course, they knew nothing about it, how it could have happened. I was having palpitations and getting ready to go off and find some places to call and vent. You do get tickets for jaywalking and sitting down in traffic, this I know.
