Randy Moss to Team up with Bret Farve in Minnesota?

Read Time:2 Minute, 3 Second

The big news in the NFL is that Randy Moss is going to be traded to the Vikings for a third round draft pick.   Not that this is a surprise that Moss will be traded. Patriot’s coach Bill Belichick is that team’s primadonna.    Moss had enough of that last year and tanked a couple games.    Primadonnas don’t like sharing the lips that kiss their rear ends.   Not even the lips of Tom Brady were enough to keep Moss from being Moss and Belichick from being Belichick.

So off to Minnesota for Randy Moss, who in my view anyway is the best wide receiver ever.  No offense to Jerry Rice intended.  Nobody has the talent Randy Moss has.

The partnership formed by Viking quarterback Bret Favre and Randy Moss will be special and exciting for a few games.   Randy can be remarkably well behaved when it suits him. Plus, this is a contract year for him.   And of course Minnesota fans will cheer him when he takes the field for them.   His presence will certainly help Bret Favre and his 40 year old body.  Safeties can’t blitz with Moss on the field. It takes two guys to cover him and he can outrun anyone.  His field vision is excellent.  He can read the defense and get open faster than anyone.  Favre is good enough to recognize these things also and they should put up some great numbers.

What Randy will also find out though is that Favre is for Favre.   His receivers get killed because Bret will throw the ball into coverage that guarantees if the receiver catches the ball he will get hammered.   Randy won’t appreciate that. Especially in a contract year.

Al in all though, it’s a great move for the Vikings if it goes through. Running back Adrian Peterson could have a 2,000 yard season with Moss spreading defenses for him. The other Viking receivers will have more opportunities with so much attention that will have to be paid to Moss.

I predicted the Steelers and Packers in the Super Bowl this year.  If Fare stays healthy though I may have to eat that prediction.   I’ll stand by it though.    Favre’s not getting any younger. And as Charles Barkley said, “Old players just get older. They don’t get better.”    But Moss and Favre together is a great thing for fans to watch.   And what the hell.  Us old guys have to root for each other. Go Vikings!

He’s the Manny Ramirez of football. I.E., when he’s happy, he plays well and when he’s not, he dogs it. Hopefully, he’ll be happy playing with Favre.

I remember watching Randy in his rookie year take off on a 50 yard touchdown run after taking a short swing pass. It was against the Cowboys and I remember just being sick when they passed on him in the draft. I have always enjoyed watching him play, even though he’s never played for my favorite team. Sometimes he looks like a man playing with boys. The only unfortunate thing about the trade is that he’s gonna make Brett Favre look good and I think that guy’s an absolute waste of oxygen.

For the Pats to unload, possibly the most valuable receiving threat in the league, I can only conclude he was bad for the locker room. Whiners are bad for moral.
