The strange things Muslims wear

NPR contributor Juan Williams created a firestorm recently with these comments to Fox News Bill O’Reilly: Political correctness can lead to some kind of paralysis where you don’t address reality. I mean, look Bill [O’Reilly], I’m not a bigot, you know the kind of books I’ve written on the civil rights movement in this country, but when I get on a plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous. Now, I remember also that when the Times Square bomber was at court, I think this was just last week. He said the war with Muslims, America’s war is just beginning, first drop of blood. I don’t think there’s any way to get away from these facts. But I think there are people who want to somehow remind us all as President Bush did after 9/11, it’s not a war against Islam.
Within hours Williams was a former NPR contributor and was immediately snapped up by Rupert Murdoch. A nice addition to his growing stable of bigots.

Hey, I have that same dress thing the queen is wearing. EXACT same color and everything. I just wish NPR would get rid of that horrid Mara Liassion woman too, she is just as bad as Williams is.
Oh and the funniest thing about this. We all know that the R stands for radio right. Well, the wingers sent out all of their emails shortly after the “liberal” was booted from NPR talking about, I will no longer watch your show. Wonder if they thought they were back in the good old days when families gathered around the radio to “watch” a radio program. These people are so stupid, I have no words to explain how stupid they are anymore.
Agreed Jess, sometimes the English language, with all it’s power, comes up short when needed to describe wacko behavior.
What bothers me most about this whole Juan Williams thing isn’t that he was fired. According to NPR, this was simply the last in a long line of statements which he’d been warned could eventually result in the termination of his contract. He got what was coming to him. Rather, what bothers me is just how stupid and wrong his whole statement was in the first place. Frankly, those dressed in traditional Muslim clothing are the LAST people who you should be afraid of. None of the terrorists on 9/11 were dressed like that. They dressed like most Americans do because they were trying NOT to be noticed. People who dress in the traditional Muslim “garb” aren’t hiding their religion because they don’t need to. Extremist Islamic terrorists do. Juan Williams is an idiot.
