Food prices go up as inflation creeps in-The Republicans are coming and things will get much worse unless you’re rich

The American people have spoken. They want guns, guts, glory and Jesus, but apparently eating is not a priority because the Republican Congress can only make worse a very bad situation worse as they partner with the fat cat bosses who elected them. Here is just part of the story:
Despite low overall inflation, the price of basic foods is rising, presenting food companies with a dilemma: do they let rising costs erode profits, or raise prices while demand remains weak? Milk, beef, coffee, and sugar have all seen price spikes, driven by growing demand in China, India, and developing economies, the Wall Street Journal reports. The US consumer price index—minus food—rose only 0.8% over the year to September, while the food index rose 1.4%, and is expected to rise to 2%-3% next year. The latest election has aggravated the situation, as Republicans are known to be in bed with big business, at the risk of the majority of Americans.
“The big challenge will be, how much can we swallow and how much can we pass along?” says the owner of a grocery chain in California. Most big chains and retailers are signaling that higher prices are imminent, if they haven’t raised them already. BJ’s Restaurants, for example, is pushing through price increases, but also improving the decor. “You can’t just raise prices without improving the overall dining experience,” says the chief financial officer.
Holy smokes and land sakes alive. John Boehner and his mob are movin’ on up and you should be very afraid, except of course for those of you who didn’t have the common sense to understand that a vote for a Republican is a vote against middle-class working families.

As for BJs and remodeling. Hell, I don’t think hungry people care that where they eat has Michelin stars. If that were the case, we would not see lines out the door at foodbanks and places where people can get a meal. So BJ’s is now a place I won’t go again, because of their financial officer and the smarmy attitude. See how that works, smarmy bastard.
