Fox News celebrate Olbermann suspension

Read Time:18 Second

Keith Olbermann’s suspension over three donations to Democrats prompted an outcry from across the blogosphere Friday as writers from the liberal Daily Kos to the conservative Weekly Standard criticized the move. Fox News contributors Sean Hannity,Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin openly fund raise for republican candidates. Different network, different standards.

Perfect video. KO’s suspension is yet another example of the pompous executives at NBS failing to understand how the real world works. Anyone remember the Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien fiasco?

I’ve got news for you. Wait till the Comcast/NBC merger goes through. This is nothing compared to what may happen then. One of commander cuckoo banana’s high donors is the new owner. Following this story leads me to upsetedness (Palinspeak)so I quit following, when I found out the players in the Comcast deal.

Wow, I guess I really don’t get it?! Olbermann is an obvious, well, let’s say, NON-conservative, so of course if he was so inclined to donate to political candidates he would donate to the Democrats. The fact that he DID donate to Democratic candidates is no surprise, it is not illegal, and it is not a conflict of interest considering he is obviously a Democratic cheerleader, so what’s left? PETTINESS.

Worth noting that Bill (William the Bloody) Kristol, at his Weekly Standard website, has come out swinging for KO’s reinstatement. Kristol points out that KO is a commentator, not a reporter, so neutrality isn’t expected from him. And Kristol called on his conservatives to tell MSNBC the suspension isn’t fair.

Over at MSNBC, Maddow has posted good commentary on the matter. Some of what she says:
“I know everyone likes to say, ‘Oh, cable news, it’s all the same. Fox and MSNBC — mirror images of each other. But if you look at the long history of Fox hosts not just giving money to candidates, but actively endorsing campaigns and raising millions of dollars for politicians and political parties … you’ll see that we can lay that old false equivalency to rest forever. There are multiple people being paid by Fox News to essentially run for office as Republican candidates. …”

MSNBC has made the point that it’s better than Fox because it does care about being a news organization and not a propaganda machine or media arm for a political party. Now that the point has been made, it should bring KO back.

I will only watch Rachel now and I’ll do it online, till he comes back. They did approach Chris Hayes to sub for him and he said nope, not doing it under the circumstances. When will they be suspending Pat Buchanan for his racist Nazi shit and Joe Scarborough for his republican cheerleading? Can you tell I am more than a little miffed about this?

Say what you will about Keith( I love him) but know what, when a corporation (GE) that owns a news station(MSNBC) can make money from politics and can dole out to one party or the other, is more than a citizen thanks to SCOTUS. That is sickening and coming close to that whole fascism thing. NOT GOOD, not good at all.

🙂 Remember they fired him after his sports announcing gig and had to pay through the nose for doing so. He won’t go there, or at least I don’t see him doing so. He’s only suspended because Phil Griffin and he have been going around each other for the last few months in a dick measuring contest. Seems Phil won this round of it. Keith started in sports where facts matter and IMO has continued that. Does he piss me off sometimes, oh yeah he does, but for the most part he is right on the money. Bill Maher had an excellent New Rule about false equivalency on his show Friday. Well worth a watch.
