The Empire Strikes Back- Revenge of the Oompa Loompa

Read Time:2 Minute, 29 Second

Well….the elections are over and the damage is being assessed.

True, the Republicans won a majority in the House and gained some seats in the Senate. But, it could have been worse. A lot worse.

So now it’s Gridlock politics. Is that any different than what we had before? Really??

Some of the bad…Alan Grayson lost and so did Tom Perriello

But California showed that money can’t buy elections, at least not yet.

Also applies to WrestleMania candidates.

The Republicans think they won because voters are endorsing their agenda. But let me pose this question. If the unemployment was at 4%, do you think they would have the same results?

I don’t think so. It all comes down to the economy.

People are scared of losing their jobs and losing their homes.

That sentence needs to be repeated because it encompasses everything…..

People are scared of losing their jobs and losing their homes.

Obama may not have caused the economic meltdown but like it or not, he has inherited the results.

Of course, the Republicans think that the cause of the countries economic woes are taxes, debt, and “Gub’mint” interference.

I have always thought that the first two items are diametrically opposed unless they plan on bringing back the bizarre concept of “Supply Side” economics. Who knows, we may not have heard the last of the old “VooDoo” theories.

I don’t really know what the Democrats plan is. To me, it seems like they have given the keys to the very people that created the meltdown.

The only thing that I can think of that explains the behavior is “Stockholm Syndrome”. But I also think that Quantitative Easing seems more appropriate as a name for some sort of enema.

As for 2012, Obama’s fate rides on the health of the economy. If it continues to get worse, then God help us because the Republicans will have it all.

The country will put back in power the very people that got us in the mess we are in.

But maybe….just maybe… if the economy starts to come back, the foreclosure crisis doesn’t bring the whole country down, and the unemployment rate drops, we might just have Obama for 4 more years.

Maybe the Republicans will spend all their effort in trying to get rid of that “socialist ObamaCare” and creating a sub-committee to find Obama’s birth certificate.

But if something isn’t done about the wild west unregulated Wall Street and the Too Big To Fail Banks, it’s not really going to matter who’s in the political offices.  America’s slide into third world status and the ever widening gap between the richest 1 percent and the rest of us will continue.

And that’s going to be this generation’s gift for the next. If we can’t fix it now, how are they going to be able to stop it?

They love me...They really love me!

Yes, yes…Jess! Awfully good to see MH. 🙂

I am a little pissed today about the 45 BILLION DOLLAR TAX BREAK President Obama and the Democrat controlled Congress gave to General Motors on a silver platter. What the hell is that all about?

Do you realize General Motors will pay ZERO in taxes for the next 20 years? Where’s my 20 year tax holiday?

Meanwhile, California is on the verge of bankruptcy with little or no hope of recovery. While the news shows are already talking about Governor-elect Jerry Brown going to President Obama for a bailout, that’s going to be tough sledding.

California pols are just going to have to “man up” and do the hard raising of the taxes thing. There are no two ways around any of it. We cannot keep giving out tax cuts for everyone and hope that things will be okay.

The world is not coming to an end. Everything is (relatively) OK. No one is going to repeal the Health Care Bill (although I wish they would, it’s a business killer).

Republicans will NOT pass a single “bad” bill. Obama still has the VETO and there is no way any weto will ever be over-ridden.

We will see some Gridlock, but Obama will be reelected and Democrats will regain control of the House in 2012.

I agree with all of that Wizard, with the exception of Obama being re-elected in 2012. You’re probably right.

If someone has to be mad at Obama for anything, it should be the bank bailout. People who are pissed because he isn’t creating jobs for them should remember that most of what he has been trying to do has been stymied at every turn, including extending jobless benefits.

You know what will really be a scary thing? When the war is over and the troops come home and leave the military. There will be no jobs for them. And with the way the Repukes want to cut benefits, no health care either.

Wait for as bit on the bailouts. Supposedly Bernanke will be coming around with the hat today for the bankers because they are feeling the pinch.

Off topic, I was just thinking about you and where had you been that I missed you and yer butt posts. Now I get to tell you, instead of having Krell relay a message like a high schooler. I missed you.

Hey!! Mother Hen gets a “I miss you” and I get a suggestion of an orange cone up my ass?

If I wasn’t such an arrogant engineer type, (actually a required college course to complete degree), I could have my feelings hurt.

How can I miss you if you don’t go away? Hmm, I can’t. I hadn’t seen the lovely MH for a while and missed her. If you go away I will say that too, because I would miss our witty back and forth. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen 4d either, since I left for Colorado a few weeks ago. Took me more than a minute to realize that C.H McDermott was the lawyer also.

On the night before last, around 5 or 6 I began my last night of national calling to get the vote out for Change.gov. I spoke to many. At first I was getting folks who were ‘over it’ with politics and Obama and some actually got angry with me. My job is to calmly listen, be kind and remind them of what the President and the 111th Congress has accomplished. I like to think I changed a few minds that were set against votes and the Democratic Party.
Then there Ms. O in Ohio.
She began listening to me, stopped me and asked me “who gave a fuck about me?” and then she actually apologized for cursing and the she just began to cry. The most awful things are happening to her and her five yr old daughter. Homelessness looms – health issues cause her to stress for both their futures. She was earning 70k a yr then phift! And unemployment has run out and they probably will not reopt it, after all, the Republicans with a Tea cozy won’t have that. My point… we are in this together. We should be pulling together. Instead we are too often too well torn up with fear. And fear is a major manipulative tool. Look how it works! Ms. O is so confused. She knows Obama is a better man, better person than any Republican. She knows it’s not his fault and he’s done so much… but she can’t help but ask why he’s allowed her and her daughter to become destitute. And she thinks he didn’t but she still blames him somehow for not fixing it better for good people.
Now, I kid ya not Krell… that’s what the lady thought, I think she was relieved have someone to tell it to who she thought might be able to relate the message in a more significant manner… I didn’t know how to say I was I just a minion of the Democratic machine for the good of the vote with no magic speaking tube to the White House any more than her….
and you are saying the same thing that she wishes would happen before it’s too late for her.

A few hours ago Alex Sink conceded the Gov’s race here to the biggest medicare swindler in US history. He touted that he’d put FL to work with big oil drilling off my coast.

Didn’t Scott get the highest fine in history as far as his medicare fraudulent activity? I read somewhere in the vicinity of 350 million is what he walked away from it with and he used it to buy the governorship of Florida. It is shameful, truly shameful what has happened these last couple years and this past election.

A couple British Petroleum execs helped him (Scott) manage his ‘marketing’ for the Gov’s race. I’m somehow thinking he’s a Jeb Bush crony. Am I right?

There is a genuine need for Americans to pull together right now. I don’t know how well we might, but we have to try. And those of us who do keep ‘an eye’ on the pols, we have a responsibility to try and keep others informed… while there are all sorts of ‘lines’ we can cross doing so, we still need to be the sirens. BLUE BLOGS, eh? I’m email conversing with a few of our progressive blog brothers / sisters today who are saying the same…
and of course
they are cursing much more than usual.

Oh yeah he has it in really good with Jeb and his people. Now some of the good things that Crist did, will all be for nothing because Scott is an anti anything that is good for Florida. All that corporate, possible foreign money sure bought the government the fat cats want didn’t it? I just cannot understand why a man like this, who screwed the government out of more than a billion dollars is elected to a higher office.

That has got to be truly heart wrenching, to hear from people that have or are in process of losing their home. What do you say? Stay the course seems to be a hard thing to tell a person as they are packing up their belongings.

It’s incredible that swindlers, kooks, and oompa loompa’s seem to have the spotlight right now. But now they have to actually produce something, not just say no. Perhaps this will actually aid the need for change in 2012.

We DO have the knowledge of knowing that our side still cares for people not corporations, chooses the environment over profits, and feels that people, no matter what the color or sexual preference, should be treated equally and given the same basic dignities.

“But I also think that Quantitative Easing seems more appropriate as a name for some sort of enema.” Just had one this morning. It was GREAT! Another reason to have a little hope is that comedy is about to get funnier. Always does with more Republicans.

And we seemed to be at the epicenter of the comedy, don’t we C.H.

If you guys get a good rate on a moving van, can you try to get us the discount? Be sure to include the cardboard boxes with vent holes for the chickens.

As for the Q.E. enema, lately I’m been leaning more towards a combination of Red Bull with just a pinch of Skoal tobacco for zing.

When you do this make, sure you get one of those orange traffic cones. It will serve two purposes, you can use it as a megaphone and an enema tube at the same time. It’s like recycling at its finest. It would also make you look like an asshat, but that is just a bonus humiliation thing.

Orange is quickly becoming my least favorite color. Doesn’t look good on politicians or hats. Ass or otherwise…

I listened to Mr. Boner’s speech this morning, not the crying one, but the crowing one. He has already said, in between saying “the American people” for the 200th time, that he will work to repeal health care. What kind of idiot would do that? John Boner and his gang of thieves of course.

Reply to  Professor Mike

That will be their own destruction. Although some people are against it, when they are asked about specific provisions, they tend to agree with it.

If the Republicans start having hearings and dragging out testimony, they run the risk of bringing out those provisions that people agree with.

In an ideal world, the Republicans would take what has been passed already and form a consensus with the Democrats to take out stuff that is agreed bad and improve what is good. (Suddenly bursts out laughing…like that is going to happen!)

I called his office and asked when will they be getting the jobs back and could he please stop talking as if he knows what this American person wants because he doesn’t. Surprisingly or not I was not hung up on, as I usually am and the staffer said we will get your message to the congressman.

Wow Jess, did you really call Boner’s office? Not surprised that you would but surprised that you actually got to speak to someone. I think that Mike comment is right on this one.

I think they will have their lofty conservative goals but it will quickly dissolve into trying to repeal HealthCare, trying to get rid of anything concerning Global Warming, and believe it or not….impeachment of Obama.

Sad! Sad! Sad!

Oh yeah, he promised the jobs and he won so I want to know where they are. Plus I don’t like anyone speaking for me when I don’t know them. I did the same thing when old man get off my lawn was on about my friends. He had a day to get them, like he gave PO almost a couple years. It’s only fair he answer the question. It was a staffer that answered. They still have to get the people’s business done today, so that includes taking the people’s phone calls since he is speaker maybe to be.

Nancy Pelosi’s office always took calls, when you tell them you are calling about her speakership role and not a constituent. I am a person that believes they work for me and should answer to me, to that end I hold them accountable. So everyone call once a week and ask where are them jobs you promised during the campaign. I plan on doing that.
