If Julian Assange was Chinese the West would give him a Nobel Prize

Read Time:50 Second

If WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, was Chinese, and he was doing to them what he is doing to us, the West would call him a dissident and give him a Nobel Prize.

Julian Assange is slipping out of the news, he and WikiLeaks are not the headline grabbers they were a few weeks ago, the notorious American short-attention span is being exploited by the media and it’s political buddies. The UK government won’t send him back to Sweden for fear of being accused of bending to American will, Sweden will keep pressing for his extradition, knowing it won’t happen. So what’s next?

The stark truth is – Governments illegally invaded foreign lands, such as Iraq and Afghanistan. WikiLeaks has shown up these governments, something the world’s media haven’t done. The world needs WikiLeaks. That is why we shouldn’t take our eyes of this topic.

Below is a video of an interview of Assange by Sir David Frost produced for the Al Jazerra English speaking news network.

Although Wikileaks may have caused some damage to America’s pride, reputation and intelligence, I doubt if anybody will die because of the document dump. However, Julian Assange did what he had to do in the name of freedom. In every war there are casualties, and this is a war against oppression and censorship.

Mike,
I’m assuming you’re attempting to play devils advocate. To play along, I’ll pretend its a valid question, rather than self-evident.

An aggressive war, waged by a stronger nation against a weaker nation which poses no credible threat. Neither Iraq nor Afghanistan had an air force or navy, yet we as the most powerful nation in the world attacked them and displayed the results on TV as if it was video games for MSM talking heads to marvel over. Try this summation, Robert Jackson put it far better than I can.

Just change the names.Waging aggressive war against a weaker nation for seizure of their resources or to install a regime thought to be more compliant is morally bankrupt.

To claim otherwise is to deny a connection with the civilized world.

The fact that meeting were not held to specifically plan massive slaughter of civilians does not excuse them as a war crime, our leadership is well aware of what we do.A compliant media gives protection to our leaders, it does not make the deaths any less reprehensible.

Oso we were attacked [on 9/11] by terrorists who were supported and protected by al Qaeda (the head of the snake) who were in turn supported by the Afghanistan Taliban. Please don’t ask me once again to deconstruct the incident. You know I don’t support war for war’s sake my friend.

The assertion about if it were Chinese leaks–absolutely correct. That is an excellent way to look at that. Initially I was on the fence with regard to wikileaks, but I have become a believer.

I’m curious as to why these wars are “illegal,” and what, precisely, is a “legal” war?

I agree that the irresponsible statements by less than responsible leaders should not be the reason for war. Then again, I think we need to look beyond the semantics and take the geopolitical map into consideration.

In my opinion perhaps the only war worth waging is the war against the enemy that attacked our shores or will act “inevitably and immediately” against our interests, meaning the taking of human life.

I don’t think we had any business attacking Iraq. I don’t think we had/have any business continuing the war in Afghanistan, although the initial attack was justified beyond all reasonable doubt.

I would love to discuss this at length, however, time limits discussion. Thanks my friend.
