Rep. Giffords – A Palin ‘Target’ – Shot

By now most MMA readers – a lot that tends to have its finger on the pulse of current events – have heard of today’s sickening attack on a Democratic member of Congress in Tucson. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, 40, was shot by a man with a semi-automatic gun. There are reports saying she has succumbed to her wounds. [UPDATE at 3 p.m. MT: She has had surgery, and doctors are optimistic for her survival.] Several other people were shot as well, at an event she was holding outside a supermarket.
How many have also heard of the Sarah Palin connection in this gruesome, horrific story? Giffords was high up on the Tundra Twit’s list of “targets” in the 2010 elections. And yes, “target” is precisely the word the Alaska gun nut used, repeatedly.
As well, Giffords’s right-wing opponent held a gun event for himself in June offering supporters a chance to fire “a fully automatic M16.”
There’s blood on Republican hands, if you ask me.

The judge had received over 200 death threats and need marshall protection after certifying a 32 million $ civil rights lawsuit.
This disturbs me greatly. I am almost as disturbed by the fact that Palin and her gang of haters probably have no idea what negative and hateful influence they wield over the nuts and would be nuts in this country.

Giffords was among at least 10 people wounded, and the hospital said her outlook was “optimistic” and that she was responding to commands from doctors. The hospital said a 9-year-old child was among those killed, and a U.S. Marshal said a federal judge was also fatally shot in the attack.

Is this not a smoking gun for open and/or concealed carry? And especially at political Rallies? All those in favor of the rights of unregulated militias to bear arms should get in line to wash innocent blood from their hands. It is time for us, as a nation, to take up the unconstitutionality of standing un-regulated militias.
Yes, I’ve been thinking of those Arizona A-holes who carried assault rifles outside political rallies in ’08 – and all those Americans who defended those A-holes.

Another thing: You might notice that Palin’s target list had little crosshairs. I’m feeling a little sick now.

Thanks for putting this up so quickly Mike.I was curious about the gunman, all I could find is he appeared to be alone, late teens or early twenties (per interviewed bystanders)and that he shouted something before firing first at the congresswoman and then wildly into the crowd.Fifteen to twenty shots apparently.
