Beer is a good thing-A very good thing….

It is summer here in NZ.
Outside it is 26 C (79 F), and a bit humid. It’s just before noon, and the humidity, which had been climbing has been ameliorated by a gentle breeze blowing up the valley.
I’m lying on our porch swing, with a chilled bottle of beer on the side table and a reasonable book (The Nanoflower, by Peter F. Hamilton) resting on my chest.
I’m making the swing gently oscillate by twitching my big toe against the support stand. The beer is being slowly emptied, every drop being savoured. It’s Speights Old Dark 5 Malt (A locally brewed dark beer, full of flavour and ice cold from the fridge)
Beer is good in the summer days.
It quenches thirsts, blurs bad memories, induces sleep. (Notice I said sleep, not sheep, we’re not Aussies.)
Quite honestly, life doesn’t get much better.
I felt bad reading about the Queensland floods and the terrible blizzards enveloping the USA, but at the moment I don’t really care.
Beer makes a nice haze, filtering reality into a lovely amber coloured world.
School to teach on Monday, but that’s at least 36 hours away.
That’s at least another 4 bottles.
It’s summer.
Beer is good.

I’m always glad to read or talk about beer. Beer is indeed, good.
My wife and I went to a winery that had a dinner buffet and entertainment close to our home last Fall. I ordered beer with dinner.

I’m sorry to say that I really prefer to drink the stuff rather than talk about it, but what the hell, it is good.
Good for you oredering the beer, sometimes it’s what you want, regardless of the quality or type of food being offered.
No matter how good the food is, if it’s asian, indian or fish and chips, beer goes best.
I think Robert is just rubbing in the good weather he is getting. Bully for you dude! 😉

yes, I’m gloating a bit about our good weather compared to the giant freezer that is the USA at the moment.
I haven’t tried Stonebrew yet, I’ll look out for it if you recomend it.
I only drink beer in the summer, or when the All Blacks are playing, otherwise it’s mostly whisky. In moderation of course.

unfortuntely, that is a generic “porch swing” photo, and while I think I have a lovely home and family, the view isn’t as great.

The weather is great at the moment though, it peaked at 28.5 C yesterday evening.
