Johnny Cash: Hurt

Read Time:23 Second

I never was much of a Johnny Cash fan. That was before I heard this song.

A song originally written by Trent Reznor of NIN but as far as
I’m concerned… Johnny Cash owns this song.

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

Sorry, could only link.. will not embed

Hurt

I found an embeddable version. I could of illegally downloaded the one you linked to and posted it, but eh… and yes Cash does own this tune. 😉

Grew up w/country and not a big country fan, except for Johnny and a small handful of artists.

Can you go ahead and download Johnny Depp butt nekkid with me somewhere in amongst that nekkidness please? Kthx Dusty, now MH will probably say something silly like she wants that too, but don’t listen to her. Also, don’t tell her I said that, it’s kinda like talking behind her back or something rude like whispering. Put your fingers in your ears and go I can’t hear you nah nah nah.

That’s OK Jess. We have to ask ourselves, “WWJW” (What would Johnny Want?) and I can promise that given the choice he would rather have you nekkid in there.

To have me anywhere near Him in any state of undress, well that would be blasphemy.

Well ladies there is a 9 sec video of him naked as a jaybird but it’s fuzzy as hell and you don’t see anything but his butt. For all I know its a standin who’s butt we see.

From Johnny Cash to a discussion of Johnny Depp’s butt. LOL!

In fact, I’m going to try do the old 7 levels of separation. Any subject can be connected to Johnny Depp’s butt in 7 separations or less.

Brad Pitts butt
Johnny Depp was in a recent movie with Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie is married to Brad Pitt
Paparazzi took photos of Brad Pitt’s butt while they were vacationing. That was too easy.

Albert Einstein
Albert Einstien wrote a paper titled “Investigations on Theory of Brownian Movement”
The Rolling Stones had a hit song titled “Brown Sugar”
Keith Richards is a guitarst for the Rolling Stones
Johnny Depp consulted Kieth Richards when doing the acting role of the pirate “Jack Sparrow” on Pirates of the Caribbean. They probably talked about that embarrassing movie “Private Resort”, when Johnny Depp had to show his butt for 9 seconds.

Thats ok, on my Fantasy Sports post today it has evolved into a discussion of my butt and me having sex w/a golfer in his cleats on a hardwood floor. Try 7 degrees of separation with that one. 😉

I also love this scary tune by Cash written in the last years of his life. The guy had it going on until the very end.

Bravo, Krell. Cash’s American IV is a masterpiece for the ages. The first time Trophy Hubby and I listened to The Man Comes Around, I remember the song was so powerful that we both sat listening to the song in utter silence. I heard Johnny Cash’s version before NIN. By comparison, Reznor wrote a great song, but I agree that Cash made this song completely his own,

I’ve admired Johnny Cash for a long time, and I’m not a Country music fan, except some of the traditional music is quite amazing. I never saw Cash as a Country artist only: he is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Country Music Hall of Fame, won several Grammys, and is a Kennedy Center honoree.

Thank you, Krell.

This song in particular had a very emotional impact. Everyone struggles with their “inner demons” and he really brings out that message.

Wow! I had never heard this, much less watched the video. I don’t know why embedding is prohibited. I tried several different versions also. Thanks David.

Nice one man.Johnny Cash was very much against the war, what I understand. He was heartbroken when we invaded Iraq.Lot of humanity he had in him.

You’re right, Oso. Man In Black is a strong protest against the treasonous criminals who profit from war, completely unaware or uncaring of the suffering their avarice causes others.

I’d love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything’s OK,
But just so we’re reminded of the ones who were held back,
Out front there ought to be a man in black

Now, I can’t wait to unpack my CDs and set up the stereo.

Thanks Oso. I always knew that he walked his own path, a strong stand especially in country music.

That just reminded me. I remember a radio interview with Merle
Haggard, another country guy. He had some strong opinions as well about the war and the plight of the working class.

You will have to excuse my wording, I’m pretty sure he didn’t put it like that, but he came across as very straightforward and insightful.
