Should children be allowed to read the Bible: the most violent book ever?

Read Time:53 Second

Thanks to Flckr and Awake for the image

A 14 year old Atheist. How cool is that? This young lady manages to articulate the nonsense of the Bible as well as old geezers like me and my old geezer atheist friends. Now keep in mind that in the mind of a 14 year old, a geezer is someone over 30, so don’t start thinking I confessed to anything here.

The amazing fact that this young lady can select sections of the Bible and use them against the Uber-Christians is quite astonishing, not to mention uplifting, and humorous. She manages to make a powerful point when she asks the question as to whether or not children should be exposed to the most”violent book ever.”

In conclusion I think Bibles should come with warnings, like cigarette packages.  How about this:

This book contains verbal images of adultery, violence, sodomy, pedophilia, masturbation, bestiality, necrophilia, murder, suicide, war, genocide, incest, mayhem and other subjects that could be harmful to the health of your child.

Enjoy this little movie:

I agree Vick. They carry it to church, and carry it around in their car, on the seat next to them. I suspect it’s a good platform on which to balance your booze.

Yes…actually some of us do read the Bible. And we agree with it.

I agree that coming out is an important step to acceptance. I often compare the closeted atheist to being secretly gay. You are born that way, yet everyone wants you to change.

If kids don’t read the Bible, how will they learn how full of SH*t it is, and therefore come to their own conclusions about its incoherencies and contradictions.

A warning label like the one you describe would make young people only want to read it more.

I don’t think anyone is born gay, or atheist. I think it is learned. I do not believe in a biological link to criminal behavior. The research just isn’t there.

As to my biblical warning it was to make a point I think. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Are you stirring the pot here or do you really think people are born believing in a god? Atheism is the default position- religion must be taught.

Being gay is in a few cases, a learned behavior, but most science has decided it is biological in origin (born that way). It could be that people are born with a tendency that is or is not realized because of environment and upbringing.

I do agree that criminality is environmental in origin, though certain biological conditions make it more likely.

First off your friend needs to complain about that shrink, I don’t think any professional medical organization woukd sanction that kind of attitude.

Second, this kid is great! She shows more insight and thought than the majority of adults, especially the Bible-thumpers. Does she have any other posts?

She does have other posts, and is quite famous in the Atheist community Deb. I think YouTube links to her.

If more people would just come out as atheists, there would probably be more of us. That’s my opinion just with the people I hang with. I was telling some friends the other day, even my little neice almost 5, has decided she won’t be going through the lessons for her first communion. Of course, my sis in love asked was this my doing, since little one said well auntie Jess is a good person and she doesn’t believe. Her ‘rental units are going to let her decide when she goes for intstruction, which I think is totally cool of them, even though they are strong Catholics.

Oh and Mike, the whole confession thing about you and geezerhood, that horse left the barn I think 😉

ROFLMAO!!!!!!! Well OK Jess. Thanks for pointing out my geezerhood. LOL! Can’t stop laughing…until I start crying that is 🙂

On a more serious note a friend of mine had been going to a shrink for about three years. He thought she loved everything he had to say, until the day he told her he didn’t believe in God. She said she couldn’t treat him anymore because he was Godless and could never get better.
