Zach Wahls gave the most moving, hard hitting speech I have heard in decades

Read Time:44 Second

From the YouTube Page with the short version of this video: Zach Wahls, a 19-year-old University of Iowa student spoke about the strength of his family during a public forum on House Joint Resolution 6 in the Iowa House of Representatives. Wahls has two mothers, and came to oppose House Joint Resolution 6 which would end civil unions in Iowa.

The fight to keep marriage equality in Iowa continues, help us support Iowans like Zach: http://www.actblue.com/entity/fundraisers/12424

Made me cry and cheer this kid did. Obama ain’t got nothing on this kid when it comes to speaking truth to power. Fight to keep bastards like the f*ck that opens this video on the floor of the Iowa House on the losing end of this vote.

I’ve listened to this young man several times. He may just have a future if he doesn’t get corrupted on the way.

As the intolerants die, they are being replaced by people like this kid, my young cousins, me, my niece, nephews and we WILL outnumber the bigots and intolerants. Ooh, just got news that CA Supreme court may have the meeting, to have the meeting about the meeting to decide, yes decide, if they want to get involved with Prop H8. Damn, but these people make me mad, you have to decide if you want to decide. Come on now just do it already and get it over with, marriage equality for all. Not too long ago it was not okay for those of us with the brown skin couldn’t marry a white person, how’s that working for the bigots?

I think you and I had talked about that before, maybe at another blog, how both of us are brown skinned, one just a little darker than the other, only ’til summer dammit and I will catch up 😉

Thank you dp and mbarnato for your eloquence in voicing your pov on this wonderful child. He makes me, as a hetero American so proud. He made me cry, he made Maddow cry as Lawrence showed this at the end of his show last night.

I hope he shamed the hell out of that cretin, or as mbarnato calls him a dinosaur. May all those friggin dinosaur’s, like the one’s that roamed the earth before them, die off soon. We can only hope.

What an outstanding young man. His truth and eloquence put that other dinosaur and his garbled “rationale” to shame. And that’s what will happen over time; the dinosaurs will die off, and the LGBT community will finally gain the civil right to marry their partners. While we’re all waiting for that day, however, it’s heartbreaking to hear how good parents, partners and kids are demeaned by idiots who have the (short lived?) power to emotionally jerk families around with the legality/illegality issues.

When that young man runs for President, he has my vote. What an outstanding person he is, his moms must be very proud.
