Wisconsin’s Ryan says Madison is like Cairo-State’s Democrat senators flee capitol

Read Time:1 Minute, 42 Second

Representative Paul Ryan

As I write this it has been reported that all 14 Democratic Wisconsin senators have disappeared. When the governor was told he ordered the State Police to find them and bring them to the capitol for the afternoon vote on Walker’s union busting legislation. So far they have no been found and rumor has it they rented a bus and headed out of the capitol, and that’s all they will say about it despite intensive badgering, to the point of rudeness by CNN television correspondents Don Lemon.

Meanwhile, the Wisconsin schools continue to be closed and over 30,000 protesters demonstrate at the capitol. The Republican governor, intent on busting the public service unions, has threatened to call in the National Guard, much like Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak called in the Army during the protests in Cairo.

Here is more from CNN:

Republican Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan compared the protests in his state’s capital to those in Egypt that led to the resignation of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

“He’s (Gov. Scott Walker) getting riots, it’s like Cairo’s moved to Madison these days,” Ryan said Thursday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Thousands protested in the capital city Tuesday and Wednesday over a bill that would strip Wisconsin public employees of most of their collective bargaining rights and have them pay dramatically more for benefits.

Walker said he is dealing with a budget crisis, which includes a $137 million shortfall, and Ryan supported the newly elected Republican governor, saying he’s “not asking a lot.”

“He’s basically saying I want you public workers to pay half of what our private sector counter parts are, and he’s getting riots,” Ryan said. “People should be able to express their way, but we’ve got to get this deficit and debt under control in Madison if we want to have a good business climate and job creation in Wisconsin.”

According to Walker’s press secretary, Cullen Werwie, the controversial legislation is expected to reach the state Senate on Thursday and, possibly, the Assembly (lower chamber) on Friday.

Well, if nothing else it looks like this Wisconsin fight has finally got Dems off their asses and fired up. Looking around FB and various other sites, people are really pissed. To the point of asking the WI national guard to stand with their brothers and sisters. Reminds me of the 60s. http://www.answercoalition.org/march-forward/statements/veterans-and-gis-to-the.html
Nothing like a “cause” to get Dems working together. About time.

Thanks Tom but I don’t think I’m a Progressive. Then again I’m never sure what a Progressive is 🙂

So does this mean Walker is Mubarak and we will be seeing him leave soon? Not so much Ryan, you idiot but you did get it right with the riots and stuff.
Not only have the dems left the building they have supposedly left the state so the police, which is a whole other story I have looked into, cannot have jurisdiction. Finally dems with some spine.

Chief of police department that is appointed, just happens to be the daddy of the leader of both the house and senate in the state house there. Nothing like a little nepotism is there and funnily enough his cohorts don’t have to go through all these austerity measures. Wonder how that happened? No I don’t really but just wanted to say that.

This may be more than my 5 links worth a day Mike with just two links, but it’s well worth it to go look at.

No need for thanks, just passing around what I’m finding. The fact that this has been ginned up is really bugging me but good for the dems that left. One of them left a twitter message saying brb, so she wins the internets for today. I am now going to go eat some cheese and cheesy crackers for solidarity 😉

2:40 editing, so I am over at some of my more, let’s say, snarky sites that I do not have to be as terribly polite at, cruising for news and goings on. Last night there were apparently some amendments offered up, one in particular caught my fancy what with all the other stuff that needs getting done done.

Steve Womack(dumbshit ARK) offered up an amendment to defund the presidential teleprompter. I totally wish I was kidding but I am not. Here we are, protesting to stop the plutocracy fucking with the unions, in Wisconsin, the way they did in the gilded age till the people said oh hell no you don’t, and this ass clown is offering up some stupid shit.

Pulling it later he said “I think we’ve made the point” Wait, what the hell are you talking about Womack? First they came for the teleprompters and I don’t need to tell you how the rest of the story goes. Jesus but this country is starting into quite the death spiral isn’t it? All because we have a black democratic( well he identifies as one) president wanting to do things for the country. Oh yeah, I’m still on that kick and will not get off it.
