Can it be true? Palin on the way out?
Sarah Palin has never been one to be quieted on account of other people’s opinions, but she just might lose one of her most trusty platforms.
Reportedly, Fox News CEO Roger Ailes is less than thrilled with Palin on account of her infamous January “Blood Libel” video. Following the Arizona shooting which left six dead and 13 injured, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Palin reportedly asked Ailes for advice.
Palin created the video out of frustration when several media outlets blamed her for the tragic shooting — Ailes however, told her that it would be best to steer clear of the situation. He advised her to “lie low,” adding that “There’s no need to interject yourself into the story.” Unsurprisingly, Palin went ahead and spoke up anyway.
According to New York Magazine, Ailes is not happy with her decision.
The mag quotes “a person familiar with Ailes’s thinking” as saying, “Before she responded, she was making herself look like a victim. She was winning. She went out and did the blood libel thing, and Roger is thinking, ‘Why did you call me for advice?'”
Two months after the incident, we’re not inclined to think this is a particularly ground-breaking or surprising development. However, several outlets are now weighing in on Ailes’ anger, and rumors are circulating that Palin may lose her $1 million annual salary with the network.
At this point, we don’t think Palin will get the axe on account of her use (or misuse) of the phrase “blood libel.” We do have a feeling that Palin will lose her contract if and when she announces an intent to run for the presidency in 2012.
Fox had previously suspended both Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum‘s contracts, as they cannot employ correspondents who have entered themselves into the presidential race. Thus far, Palin has not announced an official intent to join the running and is still employed by the network.
Palin is an obvious ratings magnet for Fox, but if Ailes’ displeasure with the former Governor of Alaska continues, it is possible that she could be out of a job anyway.
Thanks to ZapIt.
I’m with Jackie! I would love to see her disappear from the landscape.
I just want her to go away..period.
Not a praying man, but will get on my knees and hope this is true.
She might lose her status on Fox News Harry, but she ain’t going away, get back off your knees.
