Marisol Valles Garcia appears to have fled Mexico with her son, apparently seeking asylum in the United States.

Mexican newspapers aren’t carrying any more information than has been reported here. Her family confirms she received death threats, a spokesperson for the municipality of Praxedis G. Guerrero added that Valles had requested a leave of absence from March 2-7 to seek medical treatment in the United States. The same spokesperson confirmed chief Valles has been fired.

The photo in the thumbnail was taken from inside Chief Valles’ office. In a possibly related story, police officer Erika Gandara of Guadalupe, Mexico is still missing after being kidnapped Dec 10,2010, just five days after Marisol Valles was sworn into office.

Officer Gandara was the sole remaining police officer in the town of Guadalupe. She’d joined the force in 2009, when there were twelve officers. She was the last remaining policeman, one was killed and the rest resigned in fear for their lives. Miss Gandara walked her beat carrying an ar-15.

According to witnesses a dozen armed men dragged Gandara from her home, setting both it and her vehicle ablaze. She has not been seen since.

One more tragedy in a nation with more than its share.

Jesus H. Christ. Just legalize it already. It’s the only way out of that mess. And if the United States doesn’t like that, we can go f. ourselves. Wait a second. That might hurt our economy and piss the gun lobby off.

I know first hand that the “War on Drugs” is one of this nation’s greatest boondoggles. A disaster!!

The situation in Mexico is the elephant in the room. The bad guys are organized, brutal and fearless. Another failed “War on Drugs” operation.
