Noam Chomsky says Obama is worse than Bush and Blair

Read Time:1 Minute, 7 Second

Avram Noam Chomsky is an American linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, and political activist. He is an Institute Professor and professor emeritus of linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Chomsky is well known in the academic and scientific community as one of the fathers of modern linguistics, and a major figure of analytic philosophy. Since the 1960s, he has become known more widely as a political dissident and an anarchist, referring to himself as a libertarian socialist. Chomsky is the author of more than 150 books and has received worldwide attention for his views.

The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW or the Wobblies) is an international union, Chomsky is a member. The IWW contends that all workers should be united as a class and that the wage system should be abolished. They may be best known for the Wobbly Shop model of workplace democracy, in which workers elect recallable delegates, and other norms of grassroots democracy (self-management) are implemented. On January 3, 2010 the IWW GHQ moved its general offices into a new location at 2117 W. Irving Park Rd., Chicago, IL.

In a recent interview with the BBCs Jeremy Paxman, Chomsky, in his calm gentle manner, said that President Obama is worse than President George W. Bush and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Watch the short 3 minute video.

About Post Author

The Devils Advocate

A devil's advocate is someone who, given a certain argument, takes a position he or she does not necessarily agree with, just for the sake of argument. In taking such position, the individual taking on the devil's advocate role seeks to engage others in an argumentative discussion process. The purpose of such process is typically to test the quality of the original argument and identify weaknesses in its structure, and to use such information to either improve or abandon the original, opposing position. So this is our very own devil's advocate who prefers to remain known only as the advocate for the devil.

I was just watching a Robert Fisk interview, he said the same thing…

I’m rather horrified at the thumbnail picture, in which Bush looks a lot like John Goodman…

Obama will have to get a whole lot worse to meet the incredibly low standards set by Bush.

I love your new DA writer. I’m surprised he hasn’t pissed everyone off though.

Chomsky is an insult to intellectualism. Always has been and no doubt always will be. To say that Obama’s policies with regard to Afghanistan are worse than Bush’s with regard to Iraq makes little sense to me.

I don’t see how Obama can be WORSE. Maybe not much better, but WORSE? No way.

I like Chomsky a lot, but sometimes I think he borders on fantasy, but he is consistent, doesn’t seem to like anybody or any political system.
