Indiana’s Daniels will sign bill defunding Planned Parenthood

Read Time:1 Minute, 21 Second

When Indiana’s governor and presidential hopeful Mitch Daniels was running for election he walked the high road by saying that ideology should not be influencing legislation.  Well, apparently he had some kind of epiphany as he plans to sign the first bill that will effectively make Indiana the the state with the strictest anti-abortion measures in the country.

Clearly, this hypocrite is pandering to the Tea Party and the Crazy Christians, hoping that this will somehow make him more appealing as a presidential candidate.

Here is the story summary:

Factor this into the 2012 political calculus: Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniel says he will sign a bill that defunds Planned Parenthood and puts in place strict anti-abortion measures, reports the Indianapolis Star. Daniels, who promises to announce soon whether he’s running for president, will make Indiana the first state to strip Planned Parenthood of Medicaid funds. Planned Parenthood of Indiana—which says no tax dollars have ever been used for abortions, as per federal law—plans to sue.

The group would lose $2 million of the $3 million it gets in federal funds—Indiana can pull the plug only on the $2 million that gets funneled through the state but has no control over the $1 million that Planned Parenthood gets directly from the feds, explains CBS. “Any organization affected by this provision can resume receiving taxpayer dollars immediately by ceasing or separating its operations that perform abortions,” said Daniels. The decision should shore up his reputation among social conservatives, who grew angry with him last year when he called for a “truce” on social issues, notes Politico.

Having zero knowledge about this in America I strongly suspect Centerman is spot on.

Surely abortions have to be carried out, when necessary, by qualified and sensible medical people. Pushing it to ‘back alley’ abortions is just plain stupid.

Did you know that 97% of Planned Parenthood revenue goes towards counseling, testing, and treatment. The conservatives want to defund it because of where the 3% goes.

These guys are all alike with their fear of the New Republicans, aka The Tea Party. Thousands of women will now go untreated in Indiana and STD’s will rise right along with back alley abortions. These Christians should do the world a favor and hang themselves.
