No doubt there will be any number of Obama Haters applauding the words and actions of long washed up actor Peter Fonda, known primarily for being Henry’s son and Jane’s brother, and for his part in 1969’s movie Easy Rider. As for me, I continue to be astonished at the depth of the hatred shown by some on the Left who once supported this president. To make matters worse, they make assumptions not supported by the evidence to condemn this president. Here is the latest on Peter Fonda and his criminal nonsense:
At the Cannes film festival, actor Peter Fonda may have said some words that he will eventually come to regret. During an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Fonda stated that he is training his grandchildren to assassinate the president, which some argue would make him guilty of a federal crime.
“I’m training my grandchildren to use long-range rifles,” he said. “For what purpose? Well, I’m not going to say the words ‘Barack Obama,’ but …”
Some argue that Fonda broke the law with his ill-conceived remarks.
“Clearly, there is a federal law that prohibits threatening the president,” said attorney Ross Nabatoff . “Now, the question is, is that a threat as opposed to him expressing his First Amendment rights? But you could conceivably construe that as a threat—he names the president. It’s a federal offense. He could be incarcerated.”
Fonda has referred to President Obama as a “traitor” for the way he handled the BP oil spill last summer. The “Easy Rider” actor is a strong environmentalist and has taken public issue with the president. During Cannes, he attended the premier of “The Big Fix,” a documentary discusses the BP explosion and all of the consequences of the subsequent spill.
“I sent an email to President Obama saying, ‘You are a f—— traitor,’ using those words… ‘You’re a traitor, you allowed foreign boots on our soil telling our military – in this case the coastguard – what they can and could not do, and telling us, the citizens of the United States, what we could or could not do’,” Fonda said.

He died of lung cancer today at the age of 79.
It doesn’t sound like he’s making a threat at all. It just sounds like he’s saying Obama is the reason it is necessary to teach the youth to defend, protect, or just shoot. This is taken out of context and blown out of proportion.
See what happens when you spend so many yearsdoing drugs? He has obviously fried WAY too many brain cells. Or he said it just to get some much needed publicity, the career is pretty dead.
The thing some of us have got to realize is that just because we remember people like Fonda in the days when they were sharp, talented and intellectual young turks, that’s not the case 40 or 50 years later. Many folks like him are starting to show their years, and that means dementia and other physical and mental degeneration diseases. We will see it especially play out in those who abused their mind and bodies with the excesses that defined the 60s. I wish Mr. Fonda all the peace and serenity he can find in his old age as the years take their toll on his mind and body.
Fonda is an idiot. The more Obama sticks with policies from the Bush administration the more I like him. He just signed the bill extending the Patriot Act another four years.
I think Fonda should look at what Obama has done and not just gotten his information from the misguided.
