How Unfortunate – A poem by Misa Akane

Read Time:2 Minute, 6 Second

Reach to the back of your shattered mind
Where the atoms and the chemicals are all left behind,
Discover the child you never could find
and quiet your tone for me again, for tonight I need to relive
And I beg, for my sake, please forgive
My need for something mystic, and a reason to live
More than your ragged breaths, and my hushed cries
All I need, just that perfect look in your eyes
Like you need me, like there’s no compromise
And if forever, my questions lay unanswered still
And go passed up like a one dollar bill
Though I search for the answers in the time to kill

And I see with the way that I know that we’re headed
Like a potential train wreck, it won’t go undreaded
But if you never have hopes, they can’t be shredded
So I’ll stay hopeless, and dreading, in forever unrest
Though I’ll cross my fingers and want for the best
But my mind is more confusing than every failed test
That I’ve ever taken, and you can look down on me
If it makes you feel better that you fail to see
Into the mind that I try shelter in the debris
Of what I decided to be, just at two am this morning
Yet again, and I mentioned it briefly, just as a warning
But we shake at the atmosphere the room is adorning

Again, I wake late and forget my appointments for today
I tell you, well today’s not important, anyway
And from then on, I just can’t care what you say
Because you’re not there to analyse what I do
While everything I do for you can’t pass your review
It’s like you’re the cyanide, while you’re methylene blue
And I’m an addict to that, you know so well that I am
‘Cause I’m holding well to your antidote, but it’s all a scam
You wander ’round lost, like the bible’s lost lamb
Like falling down an elevator with no end
I find myself lost in you, while you’re caged and penned
Yet, there’s everywhere to go, as the changing tides ascend

When you find my wonderland, where I lose myself again
When I’m lost too, this is where you’ll find my domain
Drowning in drowsy, watered-down emotion, and acidic rain
In it’s beautiful Amazon of neons and hydrogen ions
Shining in that way, like those stars of Orion’s
And the thermonuclear reactions, like the Leo’s lions
Are just like you always expected them to be.

About Post Author

Misa Akane

Being an unmotivated writer, I spend hours a week in therapy that does me no good, and the rest of it trying to find inspiration, and ending up playing with small prehistoric figurines in a realistic manner or baking several things at three in the morning. The rest of the time I tend to spend trying to find something to do with my life other than that, and end up doing it all again.

I read poetry often. It’s an interesting rhyming pattern you use, never seen that style before.

I never really plan them, they just find their own pattern, and I go with it. I hope it’s a good thing that it’s different.

This is dark and haunting and I will be sharing it widely; thanks a lot.
