In my America Mr. Weiner, morals matter

More and more elected officials

are being exposed as

ethically bankrupt – Morals do matter

While the morals and ethics arguments of the Congressman Anthony Weiner soap opera rolls on, I am reminded of many other scandals brought on by the demon of human sexual immorality.

Yes, morals do matter

Morals and self control do matter. Especially when those who succumb to evil temptations are trusted to make decisions affecting the lives of, not only everyone in our nation, but Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere in the middle east.

Congressman Weiner’s behavior was nothing short of despicable. A sin against his pregnant wife and against The Creator. He is incapable of acting like an adult and has no business serving in Congress.

This reminded me of Bill Clinton and “Monicagate.” Another disgusting chapter in our far too sordid political history. I fully supported Clinton’s impeachment. Yet liberals praise Bill Clinton as a great president. He was a lecher. Because unlike so many here, I keep an open mind. I could never vote for Newt Gingrich as he is also a person of loose morals.

A democrat I admired was LBJ. While I didn’t necessarily agree with some of his policies, he was a strong leader who took a stand against the communists in Vietnam. LBJ said, “Never trust a man unless you have his pe#ker in your pocket.”

These days it should be, unless he can keep his pe#ker off of Twitter. Morals do matter.

I am not bothered by my failure to meet your silly myth standards…not bothered by meeting the standards of someone that believes in the Norse myths either. I mean you can believe in the earth being flat and telling me that I am a sinner or worse is meaningless.

While I can see that you commented on one Republican and found admirable a Democrat that had at least one affair I am puzzled that you claim to be a thinking conservative and seem to have high regard for the Republican Party. At what point does a thinking man realize that the Republican Party is only a smaller sham that Christianity or any other organized religion. Is it a coincidence that Republicans seem to be found lacking, not standing up to their own standards? Does that make you wonder about the real values of conservatives as opposed to the nonsense the prat on and on about? Read Bob’s work and maybe you will see yourself and your fellow conservatives. To mindlessly suggest that Bob wants others to join him in perverse morality tells me that you are like the gay hating guy that hangs around in adult bookstores having sex with other men and then going up and beating up gays…afraid to look at your own rotten soul and projecting your perversions on others while denying your own.

Do you you see yourself mindlessly following the current fad religion not too every other myth loving “thinking man” through time. You would have been clapping and cheering at virgin sacrifice at one point in time and you would have joined in the discrimination against Christians at another. In Germany you would have joined in the people protesting against the treatment of Jews…the way it was being done in public with so much brutality was not Christian…killing them was fine but not with un-Christian cruelty… I don’t feel sorry for you, you are living in a Hell of your own making. Just what is the darkness in your own soul that you do not have the courage to face?

I fully disapprove of all the abominations you listed Mr. Sammingmike. I even specifically pointed out the immoral behaviour of Newt Gingrich in my post.

I have never heard of Bob Altemeyer. But from what I’m gathering here he approves of these behaviours. He just wants others to join him in his perverse brand of morality.
Do you recognize yourself Sammingmike?

Morals are important. So that we can take you seriously can you reprint or link to your comments about Newt and his affairs. Vitter and hookers. Cunningham and bribes and affairs.

This list is way out of date but please remind us of your very important comments on morals and office holders and how you have worked to get rid of Republicans that have violated your moral code. Letters printed in newspapers, notes to RNC, comments on line…?

I do wonder what your high moral ground is hiding…maybe like Newt and others busying banging away while condemning Clinton for his actions?

I have to admit that I find Republicans like you to prove the research by Bob Altemeyer and others on the “authoritarian personality” to be right on…you seem to be missing some of that cognitive dissonance when you condemn the actions of one group without condemning the the same actions in your group. See any of yourself in Bob’s work?

This Weiner has obviously been a lecher far longer than he’s been a congressman. It is unfair that his constituents should have to wait to be rid of this liar and purveyor of filth.

I thought you were going away Sagacious Person. Your continued prescence does validate my belief that evn the most adamently opposed to faith and morals, deep down, long for a moral code and answers. I am proud to serve my Lord and Saviour through my words here at MMA. They must be having the desired effect as you and this Eddie character hang on my every post.

God bless you and all who read my contributions to MMA.

I am not much on worry about someones morals in terms of how well they do their job Uncle Miltie, I would seriously question the Congressman’s judgement here. However, he is a congressman from New York and his constituents will decide if he stays in office.

YOUR morals matter to YOU!
So don’t vote for him, but keep your religious “morals” to yourself and don’t tell me what matters and what doesn’t. Morality is a load of human created crap. I don’t care what anyone does between two three four or however many consenting adults. What Wiener did sexually is between him and his wife (assuming there were no minors involved).
I just want honest and truthful politicians who act according to what they truly feel to be right and for the common good of the country.
Think about that you crusty old right wing uptight sexually oppressed curmudgeon.
Mike, WTF? Over.

Respectfully Collin the whole “poor and underprivileged” rumor was just that, a rumor. There were plenty of rich kids, middle class kids, and etc. fighting in the ‘Nam. The draft didn’t discriminate, although if you could afford to go to college you could get deferred until after you graduated, but then you were fair game. Secondly, I should point out, again most respectfully, that for some “underprivileged” who served in the military, both then and now, they found a home and a career that was far superior to life as a member of a street gang, or the local penitentiary.

Actually there have been many studies that show that Vietnam was the lower class and lower middle class war. Remind me of just what percentage of Ivy League schools graduating classes have names on the Wall? How many were even in uniform? How many were in the combat arms or flying combat aircraft? Not very many. To point to a handful of name and say…”Yes, the rich and connected were there!” is not at all telling the whole story. The rich and connected had better things to do and means to make sure that they did. We had a Vice President that even being not rich and connected figured out he had better things to do and worked hard to make it happen and not happen. Indeed by the stuff about Gore going and Bush not going (a man with his connections could have gone if he had wanted to) really says it all…Gore was a joke because he want, Kerry was somehow bad since he saw combat and was wounded, Bush and all the other Chicken Hawks show the true Republican Conservative of today. To actually go to war was not for the rich or connected. I have rule: Good war…the rich and connected send their kids. Bad War…the rich and connected kids have better things to do. No “Good Wars” since WW II…

Buckley in National Review was complaining about the draft dodgers…how many of his kids went to that war? Then look back to WW II and see how many of FDR’s sons served and served in combat. Simple truth is that for the rich and connected there has been NO GOOD WAR SINCE WW II.

Yup plenty of poor kids got a start in Vietnam…a start on drugs, a start on mental problems, a start on a grave…a body bag home. The draft was not fair…

Well yes but! While we all moralize and obscess on the sexting of Mr Weiner, titter at his name, and wax lyrical on what he should and shouldn’t do, remember the finger we point, has 3 pointing back. While we ogle Weiner’s wheenie or rant and rave about stained dresses, escorts across state lines etc etc what are we really saying? Do I care that he sexted his penis to women? No! Do I care that he lied, yes! However, where is the outrage at the deliberate lies (not just cowardice) that got us into wars in Afghanistan and Iraq? Where is the outrage that those lies have cost thousands of people their lives. Where is the outrage that we invade other countries, not just their phone lines or webspace? Salacious gossip, infantile behaviour somehow seems more socially unacceptable than the murder of many? I don’t think so!!

I can’t say I agree that being in Viet Nam was a good idea–a useless war fought with the blood of poor, underprivileged Americans. I wonder if we would be any worse off if we didn’t care so much about people’s sexual peccadilloes, whether those people are liberal or conservative and elected officials?

I never thought I would agree with you Mr. Thornridge but I have to agree with you now. Good analysis and great pictures too.
