A sad coincidence: Three dead following hypnosis

Read Time:1 Minute, 7 Second

Hypnosis is not a state of sleep but a state of relaxation

The fact is hypnosis won’t make you do anything you don’t want to do. It doesn’t make you literally fall asleep, it only puts you in a state of relaxation and when you are told the session is over you usually feel great. As a forensic hypnotist I have put dozens of people, including entire recruit and college classes, in a state of relaxation. Not one went out and hurt themselves or others. While I feel terrible for the pain these parents and family members will suffer I guarantee what happened to them had nothing to do with being hypnotized.

Here is the sad story:

Three Florida high school students are dead after being hypnotized by their school principal in Sarasota County, one in a car accident and two by suicide. Principal George Kenney is believed to have hypnotized up to 75 people, including students, members of the school staff and their children. Sarasota County School District officials repeatedly warned Kenney to stop the practice, which the principal insists was only done in the interest of helping students to be motivated and focused on school work and sports.

What are your thoughts on hypnosis? Do you think hypnosis contributed to the deaths of these students?

Wow. How long did the brains in FL take to find something they didn’t like to blame suicides on? Really? Can we really find out why those students wanted to end their lives? I’ll bet thousands that they had more compelling and (ir)rational reasons that those around them IGNORED.

I’ve been hypnotized several times, once for weight loss and three times for smoking, and it works and there’s no way it can cause you to kill yourself or get in a car accident.
