Bachmann clinic tells patients to “pray away the gay”

Read Time:2 Minute, 8 Second

Jesus will kill the gay in you and all you have to do is pray

The crazy Christians believe that “prayer” will solve all the ills of the world.  The fact that the ills of the world are all around us, prayer notwithstanding, means nothing to a Jesus Jumper.  If you ask a praying Christian why they are thanking God after a tornado blew away their home they will tell you they are giving thanks because they are alive.  When you ask them why “God” sent the tornado to begin with they will tell you “it’s the Lord’s will.”

bachmann's pray away the gay center

Beyond abortion there’s nothing more a Bible Banger hates than a homosexual.  The “gay” is right up there with the evil Atheists, and the professional Christians just love to take your money, or your family’s money, so they can help you or your loved one rid yourself of these wicked demons.

Normally, I could care less about these things.  If you choose to believe in the sky dwelling greybeard that is your decision, but when you are running for public office and lying about the family business that is a different story.  Then it becomes my business.

Here’s the story summary from our Newser friends:

A former patient of the clinic owned and run by Michele Bachmann’s husband says he was urged to “pray away the gay” when he went for therapy there. He was told prayer could help him be “re-oriented” and “rid him of his homosexual urges,” ex-patient Andrew Ramirez tells the Nation. The therapist “basically said being gay was not an acceptable lifestyle in God’s eyes,” he added. Bachmann has denied his counseling clinic in suburban Minneapolis engages in such therapy. But an undercover video of another counseling session also reveals a similar approach to what Ramirez encountered at the clinic, which promises “Christian counseling,” reports ABC News.

In the video, a gay man posing as a patient is told that prayer and effort can eradicate his homosexual urges and help him be attracted to women. Michele and Marcus Bachmann have refused to answer questions about therapies, citing patient confidentiality, though Marcus has referred to gays as “barbarians” who “need to be disciplined.” The clinic has collected $137,000 worth of Medicaid payments for care, and a $30,000 government job training grant. (Click to read about the Twitterverse’s titters about Marcus’ own sexual orientation.)

So what do you think?  Is homosexuality rooted in the curses of ancient demons, or is it something else?  Let us know in the comments section.

Well bradley, like you I’m from the bible belt. Good ol’ Northern Louisiana. haha. I understand the struggle around homosexual acceptance and homophobia here. I just would like you to know your a real christian (:. Homosexuality being a disease or some type of sin is highly ignorant. The reason I know is I haven’t felt like I’ve wanted to puke or the littlest bit evil or immoral about my sexuality. haha. if you didn’t catch that, yes i am gay. I didn’t choose to be this way, nor wanted to be. I just accepted it. I’m not afraid of women, but I just don’t have the ability some how to be romantically attracted to them, I tried several times.

P.S. I understand you Rick and Brad I’ve also been considered an asshole or been with an asshole.lol

Hmmm… I guess Michelle Bachman only wants cuts to Social Security and medicaid that kill people. If Grammy strokes out because she can’t afford the blood-pressure meds anymore, oh well; if they were to de-fund her re-education camp, well that would be bad, I guess.
I’m a Christian, I’m straight, but not narrow. Aside from God existing, and Jesus being Lord, Michelle Bachman and the rest of the Reich Wing don’t speak on behalf of anything or anyone I believe in, and I don’t think they speak for God or Jesus, either.
Having been raised in the Bible belt, homophobia a la Religion was de rigeur. I struggled for years with being told I was right, but feeling wrong about gay people, then feeling right but being told I was wrong about gay people, so I just said screw it, I’ll ask God. Now, he never popped up flaming in my hastas, but I got the distict impression that He doen’t hate gays, so I don’t either. I also believe that gay people are born gay, and since Jesus never tried to heal gayness, he doesn’t think of it as an affliction, and since He never offered frogiveness for it, I don’t think it’s a sin. And none of the demons Jesus cast out were gay, so, I’m just not going to waste any of my Christian time judging people God doesn’t hate, fixing people who aren’t broken, or casting imaginary wingy thingies out of people who’re otherwise just like you and me.
If you are gay, (or not, actually) and you want to know how the f*** I got my views out of the same Book and from the same God as the Tea Party, well, ask away. My email is on here, too.
BTW, Rick Ray, I feel your pain. Three out of five ex-girlfriends agree; I’m an asshole.

I’m not gay, but maybe I would have had more luck living with a guy. Twice divorced plus a 10 yr. relationship tells me either I’m tough to live with or women know a sucker when they see one. Nobody has yet mentioned that maybe, just maybe, people who are attracted to the same sex are normal. Evolution just put their mind in the wrong body. The difference between creationism and evolution is “evolution is true whether you believe it or not.” From my experiences in life I have seen far more religious hypocrites than I could ever care to know.

Why can’t people just leave the gay alone. It does seem obsessive-compulsive on their part.

Problem is that it’s not so much God who guides political decisions in these things. It’s fear of political retribution from idiots who think they’re doing God’s will by defending this obvious ploy to part well meaning, albeit ignorant, Christians with their money.

Ever notice how insurance agents and Amway salespeople are so religious? We even have realtors in my town who make a big show of “serving Him while serving you.” I won’t do business with anyone that uses God in advertising.

I am disgusted that government funding through Medicaid and Medicare is going to this “clinic,” which is obviously of a religious nature. What happened to separation of church and state?
