Endangered species threatened by Republican critter haters

Republicans seek to speed up extinction of species through using an “extinction” rider to bill

Once more, your voice is urgently needed to help save America’s most endangered species. Just days after the Center and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service finalized a historic agreement to speed protections for 757 species, House Republicans have placed a rider in the appropriations bill for funding the Department of the Interior that would prohibit the government from spending any money to list new species as endangered or designate their habitat critical.

republicans seek to defund endangered species act

Dubbed the “extinction rider,” the bill would handcuff the Endangered Species Act and place hundreds of species at greater risk of extinction. A vote on the bill is expected in the next few days, so we have a brief window right now to speak out and ensure Congress doesn’t gut the nation’s best protection for imperiled plants and animals. We need a national outpouring of support to stop this rider. Please contact your U.S. congressional representative and urge him or her to oppose the extinction rider, and then forward this message to everyone you know.

A lot of Republicans are stuck in the 1800’s endless frontiers mentality. If it flies, it dies. If it’s brown, it’s down. Take, take, take it all in the name of Manifest Destiny!

Wait, it’s 2011 and there are well over 300 million people in America now. The frontiers are all but gone. But Republicans don’t want to hear any of that. Jesus will fill up the plains with limitless bounty once again – if we elect Perry or Bachmann.

http://appropriations.house.gov/UploadedFiles/INTERIOR-FY2012_-_Working_v20_xml.pdf There’s the link ST. It’s 140 pages of gobbledegook, and it doesn’t have a number, yet. Probably because it’s still ‘working’, whatever that means. It only took me a few clicks on google to find the very bill Mike spoke of, so you owe him and all the other people you insulted in your post an apology.

Another LIE and FALSEHOOD from Little Mikey and his legions of sycophants. What bill is this, Mikey? Does it have a number? Right – it doesn’t because it doesn’t exist. If it did you would have posted all the necessary info so folks interested in blocking it could take the necessary steps to do so.

And to you jenny40, apparently you’re an expert on “hate” but can you kindly fill us in on what exactly you do know about Jesus? You “despise” a group as a whole and then you’re going to rant on that group as “haters”??? What an idiot.

If Republicans seriously believe they are friends of nature, they are even more deluded than I thought. In general, they’ve shown (for at least the past 30 years) far less interest in preserving nature than coddling the money-grubbing wants of industry or the land-scarring needs of OHV drivers. It’s plastered all over their voting records and in the words of their favorite pundits on talk shows, etc. How can you miss it?

“Drill, baby, drill! Let’s mine the national parks! Shoot those wolves on sight; they’re taking our trophy game! Wipe your ass with a spotted owl! Global warming is a hoax!” (and so on)

You often hear Republicans claiming that they’re just against “excessive” regulation, but I can’t recall more than a handful who are enthusiastic about ANY regulation that might effect the bottom line of their buddy corporations. Their general attitude is that wildlife and wilderness are expendable but people must grow forever and tame all possible frontiers. It’s echoed in the “subdue” mantra of Genesis 1:28, which they find more factual than modern scientific evidence.

For most of the same reasons, Republicans have a sneering, contrarian attitude toward the natural sciences (except for medicine, which gives them heart stents). Few biologists are Republicans because that field is constantly documenting how Man is ruining ecosystems. Don’t kid yourself that Republicans care about much beyond money, with the odd fishing hole or canned hunting spot as a substitute for actual nature. They’d be fine if all of nature could be viewed from a duck blind or deer stand.

I despise Republicans because they are so filled with hate and Jesus. There’s an irony there I think.
