Push broom resistance to riots

Residents of riot hit neighborhoods

fight back with push broom

Law-abiding citizens of riot hit neighborhoods in several English cities are re-claiming their communities from looters, and the push broom has become the symbol of a fight back.

Push Broom volunteers by the thousand

Not waiting for the government or local authorities to start the cleanup, thousands of concerned citizens took things into their own hands, and in their hands was a push broom.

In the face of adversity people fight back, doesn’t look like a country that’s living in fear to me. And they fight back with a push broom.

Thank you Holte. The push broom brigade hadn’t started when I wrote my piece. This is almost as unprecedented as the riots themselves. There have also been groups of people, not trusting the police, who set up teams to protect their properties. But that didn’t go down well with the police who don’t like self help law.

There have been 800 arrests in London and the courts are working 24 hour days to clear them.

You’re welcome Daniel, there are so many stupid headlines about a “country living in fear” ridiculous, those headline writers are worse than me.
