Representative Doug Lamborn (R-Colorado)

apologizes to President Obama

over “tar baby” remark

Colorado Republican Representative, Doug Lamborn is regretting any misunderstanding over his “tar baby” comments on a Denver radio show.

Lamborn spoke to KHOW-AM Friday. He was responding to comments about whom voters would hold responsible for actions on the nation’s debt ceiling when he said he thought voters would blame the president. Lamborn said: “Now I don’t want to even have to be associated with him. It is like touching a tar baby and you get it — you’re stuck, and you’re part of the problem now.”

Some people consider the term “tar baby” to be a racial epithet.

Lamborn’s spokeswoman Catherine Mortensen said in a written statement Monday that Lamborn simply meant to refer to a sticky situation. She says Lamborn sent an apology letter to President Obama.

There is no excuse for this kind of racist language; and a lame apology is not going to make up for it. Too many whites think that racist comments bring the president down;in fact,it simply shows how ignorant and low-class too many Republicans are. Just keep in mind, when you die, you will face God. And if you think that God would ever support you and your pathetic political party, think again. All any of you have to do is ask yourself this one salient question: Would Jesus behave like this? Would Jesus say this? If the answer is “no”and it always will be, then you have your answer. People like you, ignorant, racist and desperate, will bust Hell wide open, see if you don’t. The good thing about that is, all of your fellow Republicans will be there, too. Finally, an all white world! And the perfect place for it, too! Face it, your party is out of ideas and you can’t tell the white middleclass voters the truth: you will use them like $2.00 whores and not pay them, so you appeal to the lowest common denominator, racism. You should be sent home to learn some manners, you small, small thing.(Can’t really call you a man, can I?)

Better luck next life,

Awww, Mockingbird done got his self a wedgie. Yea, I’d be a little embarrassed after that last post myself bubba, but don’t blame it on “the sort of folks I’m dealing with here.” You’re just too panty waisted and shallow minded to hang.

I guess I will be VERY careful when using terms like comrade in front of Russians. 30 million is an awful lot, and I never want to offend someone who had a relative sent to the Gulag. And……..

I think I can see what sort of folks I’m dealing with here, being presumed a “sociopath” based upon the content of a single post. I think you have thoroughly defeated yourself (and me too if it makes you happy).

Respond if you wish, but I will not be back.

EIA, PRobably why you see no problem with the words that some people use is that you do not have the ability to consider the community at large when you evaluate such things. All you see is Obama the man being called something by some backwoods redneck slug from out west somewhere. And sure, man to man, such comments wouldn’t go any farther than the two of them unless the receiver of such words decided rightfully to pop the backwoods redneck slug in the face, and then there would be EMS, Law Enforcement etc., involved, but I digress. Ya see, you don’t consider some 10 yo all-American kid who is of African descent and idolizes the president. You don’t consider the let down that millions of Americans of African descent and otherwise felt when they learned that a congressman had called their president, THE PResident of the United States a “tar baby.” you’re probably reading this wondering what the fuck difference does it make? Well, you’re probably also a bit of a sociopath if you really don’t get that people’s feeling are hurt and their dreams and expectation highly effected by such comments.
The other deficiency you might have in your portfolio is the ability to know and understand history. understanding history is about recognizing the effect that people places and things have on the future. It’s about realizing that just because something happened 100 yrs ago, doesn’t mean the effects of that action aren’t still deeply ingrained in some group of people.
I guess in conclusion, I have to say that you are simply an insensitive asshole.

Hello folks,

I expect you will quickly unlink my website from this site after reading my comment below; but honesty does have consequences.

After all Obama has done for transparency, and his heroic efforts to not only fortify, but bloat beyond recognition the Patriot Act; I just cannot sympathize with others who go mad because someone “said” something about the poor bastard. How many actually consider that thoughts exist whether expressed, or not. No one ever seems to consider that it may be an “ok” thing to have forbidden things spoken, thus revealing what might otherwise be censored and unknown.

It also seems that many do not realize what a strange and precarious situation we are in, not only nationally, but globally. I cannot find it within myself to protect the emotions of Bilderbergs and secrecy fanatics while they piss our soldiers away in questionable wars. Also, Obama is extremely sharp, and the very last thing that would ever disturb him is the silly opinion of someone who he could probably have “suicided” at his convenience. I support free speech, even when offensive, and ESPECIALLY when only an ambiguous insinuation. I do not support vile actions.

As a person, I wholly despise this “victim” of trivial words. He will sleep well in a luxurious bed, and dine finely and happily regardless of what anyone says. And wake up for just a moment – think of the things that people really say. Do you dare suggest that he is not aware of the myriad words spoken of him which would make even monsters pout? He is, and he doesn’t care.

What he cares about is gathering your personal data, and preventing you from saying more serious things; things that threaten a massive agenda of control and elitist garbage.

Thanks for sporting my link. And please, if you’ve any restraint, save the “C” word for someone else. I’ve outgrown the meme.

The really horrible thing about this is that there is not public outrage and strong statements coming out of congress. Seems like everyone is sorta accepting of the whole thing like it’s no big deal.

So, is this guy just so out of touch that he doesn’t realize the racial connotation to that comment, or did he think his somwhat deft use of the slur would allow him to get away with? Either way, another embarrassment to the GOP, so good, keep it up, dipshits.

Unfuckingbelievable!
There ought to be a law. . . . or something! In Britain and other EuroTrash countries you actually can’t say stupid things (how does that work Holte?). Such a law would be unconstitutional over here, but when dumb fuck morons like that speak it makes you wonder.
Can’t the house censor members for saying ignorant offensive stuff like that. My god, it’s 2011.

I totally agree that Representative Lamborn is truly a low life. How dare he call our President a “tar baby”. Oh sure now he says he mis-spoke. It really gives you an idea of the mentality of the Tea Party Group as a whole. I hope they all are voted out in 2012.

It is really difficult to deal rationally with people who are mentally ill. That seems to be the case of those who would drive the country over a cliff to make a point an taunt the person who gave them some concessions to stop the train wreck.
