Herman Cain’s inspirational quote is from Donna Summer’s The Power of One sung over ten years ago as the theme from Pokemon the Movie 2000
The Republicans continue to bedazzle and amaze us with their brilliant rhetoric, like Herman Cain, a presidential aspirant.
Here is the story:
Herman Cain signed off last night’s debate with this quote: “A poet once said, ‘Life can be a challenge, life can seem impossible, but it’s never easy when there’s so much on the line.'” The inspirational poet? Daily Intel is on the case: Turns out it’s Donna Summer, and the quote is from her song the Power of One. “Even more bizarre, this isn’t even one of Summer’s classic hits—she recorded it just over a decade ago as the theme song for Pokémon: The Movie 2000,” writes Dan Amira.
Better yet, Cain has cited it before and incorrectly attributed it to the closing song of the 2000 Summer Olympics instead of, ahem, the Pokemon flick. Maybe he saw the movie with a grandkid years ago and things got jumbled up, suggests Amira. He’s got my vote. Pokemon is the shit.
Well, they always have seemed a bit cartoonish to me, and not in a good way. A Pokemon reference is quite appropriate.
I can’t imagine anyone coaching any of these mental midgets to “dumb it down.”
Having watched the vast majority of the debate, what struck me was how simple the language was used by the candidates. The candidates responses and rebuttals were spoken very simply and not very substantively. I wonder if that is just they way they naturally think and speak or if they are coached to dumb it all down.
Hey he just thinks he can be the best that ever was. I loved Pokemon 10 yrs ago when it was relevant and when I was a teenager.
