Chris Christie running for president?

Read Time:1 Minute, 6 Second

This is just what the Republicans need! Another candidate for president in Chris Christie

The Righties are scrambling again, or should I say still, as once staunch denier of presidential aspirations Chris Christie is now considering a run for the Oval office.

Here’s the story:

We might need a 10th podium at the next GOP debate: Conservative site NewsMax says Chris Christie is considering getting into the race and will tell donors within days. The report comes after Bill Kristol at the Weekly Standard floated the idea after watching Thursday night’s debate. Kristol followed up later by declaring, “I know Chris Christie is thinking about it,” at a CPAC panel in Florida, notes Politico. Alas, an adviser to the New Jersey governor tweetedthat the NewsMax story is “not true.”

So is this just wishful thinking on the part of Christie fans? Blogger Allahpundit at Hot Air is skeptical about the rumors but won’t dismiss them just yet given Rick Perry’s lousy debate performance. “Newsmax is a player in right-wing media and might have an inside track here,” he writes. Christie’s backers, Mitch Daniels included, probably wouldn’t be making this public push unless they sensed he was “ever so slightly open to running.”

Do you think Chris Christie will run for president and if he does can he win?

Even the people in New Jersey hate this guy. Most of the things said about him, bully, arrogant out for himself. Nope, I don’t see him getting into this pile.

I think Christie is just as bad for the average American as the other Repub candidates.

With the poor showings at the Republican’s debates, and the general political ineptitude of the current crop of candidates, I think a lot of Republicans with at least a passing familiarity with the American political process are reconcidering their electability when compared to the likes of Moron Mitt, Right Ricky, and Crazy Eyes.

I have to say, I hope he throws his hat in the ring. Obama is a reasonable guy, but has been dropping the ball lately. To get someone reasonable on the other side of the table, agree or disagree with his specific platform, might actually–gasp!–result in reasoned, intelligent debates. Could our nation handle a step back from all of the hateful, ill-informed or deliberately misleading rhetoric in a political race? Geez, I can only hope so.

I’m with Dr. G on this one. The more factions in the GOP, the better chances for President Obama in 2012. Christian Chris Christie for president? Jeez…

GL there is one already running but he is too reasonable. Huntsman would make a good choice and could likely beat Obama.

Lazersedge, are we actually disagreeing for a change? Scandalous!

There are no moderate Republicans running in the Primary. Huntsman does a great job of playing “neutral.” He’s not. Here’s just one example: http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/jon-huntsman-moderate-whos-really-conservative/

Donna, thanks for a first-hand comment on Christie. Hope you stop by again.
