Two Snow Whites in 2012?

Two productions of Snow White slated for 2012 star Julia Roberts (March) and Charlize Theron (June) as Evil Queens.

Hollywood is ramping up for the new Snow White movies. The high-profile, June 2012 release is getting a lot of press. In a twist to the fairy tale, the Huntsman ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen.

(There is a suspicion that Hunter’s “shield was loaned by Lord of the Rings director, Peter Jackson.)

The movie, under the direction of Rupert Sanders, is a revisionist take on the fairy tale and features Snow White, a princess who escapes her evil stepmother (Charlize “Monster” Theron) with the help of a huntsman (Chris “Thor” Hemsworth) who trains the princess to survive and fight back against her evil stepmother.

Charlize Theron plays the Evil Stepmother and should be phenomenal in the role.

Lily Cole, actress, model, and daughter of Phil Collins will play Greta. As yet, there is little information on her role. Some speculate her role is as a minion to Theron’s evil stepmother.

Chris (Thor) Hemsworth will play the Huntsman who aids Snow White through the woods, where they will meet the warrior dwarfs. (In this film, he carries an axe instead of a hammer.)

The first dwarf cast was Ian McShane as “Ceasar.”

The luminary cast of warrior dwarves should be a lot of fun to see on the big screen. Don’t expect Disney character knock-offs in this film—they’ll be a lot better. Other “Hi Ho”members include Eddie Izzard (Tiberius), Bob Hoskins (Constantine, the blind dwarf), Toby Jones (the timid “Claudius”), Eddie Marsan, and Steven Graham are in negotiations to play dwarves in the film as well.

Snow White And The Huntsman is creating a huge buzz in Hollywood with a star-studded cast and a fresh twist on a clasic fairy tale.
