Should Muslim immigrants be forced to integrate into their adopted society?

Read Time:2 Minute, 22 Second

There was an overwhelming response to the Julia Gillard article of January 14, 2011 entitled:

Aussie Prime Minister Julia Gillard to Muslims: Live with our beliefs or get out

Julia Gillard’s questioned “speech” is among a handful that manage to break the 250K threshold and still counting.  It is so popular it is known as an “evergreen,” a post that never dies and never gets buried in the archives.  From the day it was published it remains in the top ten most visited posts, along with Here is why religion is like a penis, Atheist wins right to wear pasta strainer, British Atheists want pope arrested, and etc.

The common denominator in these posts is “atheism,” but Prime Minister Gillard’s alleged pronouncements rank right up there with the Atheists.  The topic: Muslims immigrants.

Here are the thoughts of “Chris,” a Frenchman:

I don’t know if the speech of Mrs Gillard is a hoax or not, but I tell you that in most of the countries in Europe such a discourse would no longer be possible; not because I condemn it this, no, because everyone who settles to another country has to respect the rules as new immigrant.

As a Frenchman I live in Germany and of course I have no problem respecting the German rules but when I am looking to France I can tell you that the political face in this country is rapidly changing and the concessions we are making to the new immigrants because of their religion will have definitively terrible consequences for the future in this country. The government is trying just this year to reverse the machine but it is probably too late and most of politicals, because of their momentary interest are not able to do something.

I think in 30 years, France first, will look quite differently as it looked before. As I correctly remembered, the President Boumedienne (1965-1978) said” we will win with the bellies of our women” famous discourse by the UNO -1975-

A French woman has a fecundity of 1 child in 7 years while an Arab woman has 3 children in 7 years.

We can’t help it but that why I think that Mrs Gillard’s speech is very courageous.

Ed: Fecundity, derived from the word fecund, generally refers to the ability to reproduce. In demography, fecundity is the potential reproductive capacity of an individual or population.

If you haven’t yet read the speech by Julia Gillard please take a minute to do so.  While there is controversy over whether or not she actually said those things, there is no controversy as to the fact that these things have been said and thought by many, including politicians all over the world.

What do you think?  Should Muslims, and other immigrants be forced to integrate into society or leave the country? Answer if you dare.

I have seen enculturation denied time and time again. History is replete with examples, albeit a century ago, with the Italian Mafia and the Irish mobs. There were no long lasting effects with the possible exception of the Italians and OC, but that may be a poor example. The unwilling immigrants, such as African Americans, while enculturated, fill us with a sad and lazy despair. The Mexican immigrants might manage to instill their work ethic which would be a positive thing.

The Muslims, on the other hand are scary as hell.

This is such a multifaceted concept. Here in the U.S.. people are supposed to have freedom of religion. Therefore, anyone can claim that their opinions are religious based and therefore acceptable.
The laws of this or any other country are meant for ALL citizens and need to be followed. I don’t know too much about PM Gillards agenda,
but many cultures do have violence incorporated with their customs
as well as retaliation or vengeance. The law has to supercede the
religion, superstition or custom. We can’t be a society that allows
a father to kill his daughter for disobeying or just expressing an opinion. Gays cannot just be murdered for frivolity nor should laws protecting human rights of any nature be threatened by conflicting
social norms. Many men and women have fought and died for the freedom we enjoy and take for granted. We cannot allow anyone to move in and destroy it.

I think any body who moves here from another country needs to follow our rules. They can have their own culture but not to where it conflicts with our laws, like those veils the Muslim women wear.
