Tim Tebow walking through the shadow
So far we’ve all enjoyed making fun of Tim Tebow and The Hand of God which guides his wounded duck passes and inept coaching from opposing teams all the way to the playoffs.
Whether or not you want to believe it’s God or Santa or just dumb luck, the Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow won the AFC West and are hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday. Unfortunately for Tebow and his legend, that’s where it will end and it won’t be pretty.
The game itself will doubtless be low scoring and ugly as Steeler QB Big Ben Rothlisberger is hobbling with a bad ankle and the Denver defense is excellent indeed. I suspect they will hold Pittsburgh under 14 points. The fact is, Tim Tebow is a crummy quarterback going head to head against the league’s number one defense. He was unable to move the ball on the Chiefs last week and not only won’t move it against the Steelers, Tebow will take the beating of his life.
One thing you can always count on when you play Pittsburgh is you will get beat up. Troy Polamalu will punish you every time he hits you and so will the other members of the Steeler defense, particularly James Harrison who’s been fined for brutal hits several times. Let’s face it sports fans, James Harrison would knock out Jesus if he were on the football field and will have no problem knocking out the second coming in the person of Tim Tebow. The Bronco offense is so predictable since it is 90% Tim Tebow running around unable to find open receivers. Now this isn’t because they’re not open, but because he stinks at quarterbacking. All Pittsburgh has to do is contain Tim in a small area and let Harrison tee off on him.
In closing, Jim Brown used to say that he wanted to “punish” tacklers. Well, this Sunday is judgement day for Tim Tebow football fans and his punishment is at hand.
I’m one of the few Christians that have come out here at MMA. But praying for victory is a shallow reason to pray. Praying for poor girls being beat up by kooks is a good thing. Praying to complete passes is stupid and a waste of God’s time.
Joe, you are also one of the few that are open, honest, and realistic about your faith. I think everyone has a right to believe as they see fit in what ever they choose to believe but they should also give that right to everyone else.
He better pray hard tonight, with his eyes squinted tight. Go Steelers!
As a realist, freethinker, and just a common sense kind of guy I still cannot get over the fact that a lot of Americans still think their invisible, non-existent sky-wizard intervenes in sports. Those who spend time on their knees praying are unable to stand on their own two feet. Can you imagine how ignorant and stupid America will be portrayed in history books a few generations from now? The once great country that worshiped fairy-tale characters hoping they would answer all their mindless hopes and prayers. So sad, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.
Yeah, I remember the old Steelers and Raiders games. Pile driving receivers into the turf, punching players, it was insane. I sense that will be making a bit of a comeback tomorrow.
As I said before, if Timmy’s God has nothing better to do than look after him during his football games then he has a very narrow minded God. Tebow is a good all around athlete which has worked well for him to this point. However, he has move into a league where everyone is a superior athlete and among their best at what they do. Tim Tebow is not among is not among the best at what he does, being a NFL quarterback, thus he will be stifled in his attempts to do most every thing. He is going to need more than a rod and a staff to get through the “Steel Curtain.”
I’m not normally into football but I will be watching this game as well.
Hopefully, the Mile High Messiah will get his butt handed to him by the Pittsburgh Stealers when they play Sunday.
I know I will be watching.
