Brady Quinn can’t be blamed for being at least a little annoyed at the Tim Tebow phenomenon. In a recent GQ magazine article, the Denver Broncos backup quarterback had some seemingly harsh comments about the team’s starter, including this one about Tebow’s very public displays of his Christian faith.

“If you look at it as a whole, there’s a lot of things that just don’t seem very humble to me,” Quinn said in an article that is essentially a long list of quotes with very little context provided. “When I get that opportunity, I’ll continue to lead not necessarily by trying to get in front of the camera and praying but by praying with my teammates, you know?”Quinn has since apologized via Twitter and said the article “was a completely inaccurate portrayal of my comments.”

But he wasn’t the only one in the GQ article critical of how Tebow has chosen to express his faith. Buffalo Bills linebacker Nick Barnett said: “I think it does rub some of the guys the wrong way. For a lot of Christians, using football as a measuring stick of how good God is — it’s not necessarily what you’re supposed to be doing.”

Former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer gave a different view: “I don’t have a problem with what Tim Tebow’s doing with [his outspoken Christianity]. I’ve seen him try to articulate why he has the belief and why he believes the things he does, in a very easy way to understand. He’s not the guy, when the cameras are put in his face, saying, you know, ‘Praise to God, because he supernaturally let that ball hit my receiver!’ You know what I mean? But he’s up-front with it, and he makes many people uncomfortable.”

What do you think? Is Tebow too over the top when it comes to religion? Or is he using his platform in the best possible way? Vote in the poll, then leave a comment explaining why you voted the way you did.

I have watch the young man for a long time. All I can say is that he is what he is. He seems to be a good person.
